help w/nursery walls
Comments (26)No wonder you confused me :) You definately did sound like you had experience, but then again I wasn't sure. I have a 3 year old myself...and when he's 4 I sure hope I'm decorating a nursery again! Cloth diapers pre folded would be ok in the stacker, but like you say, any way to keep them handy would work. I think that peg rack is perfect for them given it's location by the changing table. Look around (ebay etc) they make mobiles specifically for changing tables. I had one, but it's been so long I don't remember what brand it was, but your changing table is the same style as mine so it would work. The mirrors for the back of the door...I forgot to mention...get the cheap ones that aren't really made of mirror glass LOL They have them at fred meyer, kmart, etc. Or if you get mirror glass, just add a film to the front of the glass (that stuff you squeege on to windows to filter light works great). I did that on all of the pictures hanging over DS's bed just incase they every fell (we have earthquakes and a really big one will knock down anything). I read the tip in some wifey magazine for any art hanging in a kids room in glass, since bouncing balls etc can make a glass mess. With this stuff, the glass still breaks of course, but since it's stuck onto the film, it typcically does not fall out or shatter into shards on the floor. I have to share...the remark about the bedding did crack me up. My little guy was so sick he was always vomiting or pooping his way out of his bed, typically several times a night. I got rid of the fancy silk bedskirt and bumper pads pretty darned quickly. He has cotton sheets, currently with either elmo or some hand painted blues clues paw prints on them and uses his down comforter only if I've left the duvet off :) He's much better now, but we still have more barfing than the normal kid so it's still easier to just keep all of the bedding easy and washable!...See MoreBaby Boy Nursery IDEAS to complete room
Comments (37)Things change quickly with a baby. I wanted bright and colorful so all these subdued pastels have me ready for a nap. My nursery had nothing on the floor a toddler would want to climb on or pull over to be used to help climb. That shelving with the lamp on top--DANGER DANGER WILL ROGERS. What feeding accouterments? LOL I nursed all mine until they slept through the night. We had a dimmer switch on the overhead light--the only light in the room. At night feedings I could quietly in subdued light nurse and change baby with little or no noise or activity. Baby went right back to sleep.I had a soft sculpture (Noah's ark and several animals velcroed to the wall above baby's changing table. Language learning was important to me so baby and I did a lot of animal noises and descriptions of fur and size etc. They came on and off easily for baby as they grew and needed something to keep them busy. I too would have your chair kiddy corner. I hope it rocks. I second the no time/need for feet up but everyone is different. No cords, on drapes/shades/lamps. Safety first. Love the fun knobs idea for the dresser. I would find a shade and go with a valance. I know they aren't THE THING--but they are safest for baby. Before you blink drapes will be used to pull himself up. Drapery rods pull away fairly easily. Have fun, I so miss those years!!!...See MoreGreen paint selection for nursery with slanted walls?
Comments (13)There are two windows in the room, a small one by the alcove and the bigger window on the wall where the wallpaper will go as the accent wall. We liked the Jasper Stone, but we just worried that in a small room like this, such a deep dark color would make it look like a cave (especially if we carried the color up to the slanted parts of the wall). I guess the alternative would be to use the color only on the vertical walls and leave the slanted walls white, although many designer comments I have seen specifically recommend against this, as it makes the ceiling look very low....See MoreShould rugs Match and where to buy
Comments (3)The rugs can but don't have to match either as long as they compliment each other. The issue with purchasing on-line rugs is that their coloring can vary from monitor to monitor. If you go that route the best thing to do is purchase the smallest rug to use as a sample in your room and to avoid huge shipping cost to return it. You may want to start by going to a local carpeting store where you can actual feel and touch and take home a few samples. If you find a carpet that would work you can have it bound for the rug size you desire....See MoreJudy Mishkin
