We just DIY'd about 80 square feet of Marmoleum Click in Sahara in our kitchen. It is a fantastic material, very nice on the foot and easy to keep clean. We had a natural bamboo floor in there initially and our dog just tore it up, lots of gouges everywhere, and was difficult to keep clean. If you do a search on this forum, you should find a few posts that are informative regarding the type of underlayment that's needed (level surface is required). Installation was a breeze - much easier than some laminate flooring that we put in on our second floor. I'll attempt a PIP:

The cleaners were sent to do our floors by the Forbo rep. I do not think they were at fault. The one most at fault, IMHO, was the dealer. He seemed nice, but I ended up being sold the wrong materials for the job he knew we were doing. He is supposed to be knowledgeable about what he sells. If not, then Forbo should not have him selling their product. The Forbo rep from corporate hired the cleaning crew while trying to be helpful about the scratching. He is also a very nice person, but he sent an email today saying I should go see what I can get from the dealer and get back to him. I told him that he has much more clout with an authorized dealer than I do. I also think that I have been inconvenienced enough about all this and they should work out amongst themselves how to fully compensate me with either a new installed floor, or the money to cover materials, installation and removal of the damaged floor. It cost over $4k for materials and installation (approx 50/50), so it is not like I went cheap on getting this floor. It was our biggest splurge. All I know is it is unfortunate for everyone how this all went, but worst for my family because we have to live with all this added stress and complications. We can't move our furniture back in until the floor is replaced. My dh is livid and I am heartbroken. I wanted the Marm floors and convinced him they were worth it. We don't have a back up plan and are so fried from the reno, we do not want to pick out anything else or have to handle any more problems. Today we found out that the propane company our gc recommended dropped the ball completely and did not start the process to get a permit for our stove's propane line, which takes about a month. I had no clue about needing a separate permit and inspection by the fire marshal. My gc assumed they would take care of it all as they did for him in his own house. Not only did they not do it, but they don't answer their phone most days (tried twice last week and was only allowed to leave a vm once as the other time it said they were not taking calls). After over a half hour of automated hold music today, the lady told me they never get permits and my plumber was supposed to, which is entirely wrong information. I read the paperwork from Dec when they came to our house to say where to run the line, and it has a line spelling how much they are charging for obtaining a permit for us. I had gotten this receipt from the guy who came over and he said they "take care of everything" and to call when we are ready for hook up, which I tried to do last week. I did not bother going over details at the time because he came on our first day of demo and first day we were living in our bsmt (total chaos). I was glad he said they do everything, agreed on the price and was instructed to just call for installation. We fired their butts today and someone else is starting the process for us and will have our business. We now will be without a stove for yet another month. The counter guy is mia, so my island still does not have the work areas done. Luckily, he has not been paid yet, so I know he will return, lol. The dw is installed but not mounted yet. I was allowed to use it though, so that was a victory today ;)

Actually, we experienced exactly the opposite---the sheet was far, far more expensive to install than the Click where we live (double the cost, even though the sheet product was cheaper). The Click, which we ultimately ended up installing ourselves, was super simple to install---you literally just click it in, get it seated properly, and then push it down to seal the seam. So you don't have to have an experienced Marmoleum crew do it, which you do for the sheet, where inexperience shows. We have a fir subfloor that, while not in stellar condition, was decently flat (a little crooked with the house, but so is the whole kitchen ;) but I would imagine with a floor that was really off, it would probably be most cost-effective in the long run to actually level the floor first and then install. Also, for seams on the sheet, I think a lot of this is about the experience of the installer---our neighbor has this and bought scraps from our local flooring store to do his kitchen, but then paid $$ to have them install it and they did an extremely good job with the seams---he had to find them and show us where they were. So that's not necessarily a reason not to go with sheet, if you have a good installer locally. The main reason we didn't go with it was that it had to be glued down. The Click also has a wood/cork backing that the sheet doesn't have, which was a plus in our situation because we wanted to protect the subfloor for future refinishing and buffer cold air from our basement a bit (subfloor opens directly to dirt basement, and isn't in the cards to get insulated anytime soon in temperate California!) I will say that in one spot we left something (still no clue what---possibly a spacer or just a nail we missed hammering all the way down in our final subfloor check!) under one Click tile and it does have this little lump in it now. We didn't notice it till the whole floor was laid, at which point there was no way we were taking the floor back up....so we just call it character. ;) But based on that, I'd say it's safe to assume it will show some imperfections in the subfloor if there are any.

Dorken's statement that "DELTA-FL does not change the installation of the flooring material. If the finished floor is rigid (like laminate flooring) it can be installed on top of DELTA®-FL" exposes them, I believe, if the cheese grater effect is real. Forbo underlayment or any other underlayment (foam in the case of laminate) between the clicks and the DELTA-FL would not only expose aluminum foil and/or foam to this grating effect, but the additional cushioning of another layer "thickens the mattress" and thereby unduly and unnecessarily stresses joints. There's no question going with the OSB at another buck a foot will make for a very nice floor, but, to show how eager Dorken is to sell this stuff, and to share their assertions with readers of this thread - to put a bow on the conversation, I offer my additional exchange with DELTA-FL: Thank you for your quick response. Just to clarify, the product I wish to install on top of DELTA-FL is rigid like laminate, but it has an attached cork underlayment. Are rigid floors with attached underlayments okay for installation directly on top of DELTA-FL? Do attached underlayments present a problem? Thanks again.
