PM'ing on GW doesn't always work!
Comments (12)Well, dumb me and apololgies. I don't normally PM anyone, hate to intrude, and now have totally ignored another that has been so great to interact with. Our "Mr. Stevation" Between jumping forums, threads, posts.....I need a GPS. And yes I wish this site had the ability to edit our posts, along with deleting the ones no one responds to. I'm not having the problems that you have mentioned, the PMs and thread responses do come through. Although I have only sent an email 3 times. But these and the thread responses are dumped into spam, so have to check spam on a regular basis. My email is a secondary one for keeping a primary clean. I do think that the more security features we have, the more site issues crop up and not always specific to GW. Like you have mentioned, there are other sites with far better features, but the people on this forum are "kind". And, here is how I got confused with our "Steves". I was on the tools thread after reading the baby thread and went back to look at the other Steve's link to his site. I was so intrigued with how well the site was done, his beautiful and talented wife, the settings....this person went into past memories mode. After writing him, I used the back page option and landed in the wrong thread. I didn't want to write OT on the baby thread, but wanted to share with him. There was nothing secret, just special memories. For 7 years I lived about 2 miles from him, the pics of the mountains and canyons brought back so many memories. My husband and I were married in the town next to him, in the little church where "Foot Loose" was filmed. We lived up the road from the canal where they had the tractor race and the old flour mill the dance was held in the film. Had acreage right at the base of the same mountains as Steve. I had to write Steve and share how much the pics meant to me. Was curious if he was in high tech (which he is not) as both my husband and I landed in Utah due to small companies located in the area. Was hoping a bit that he may know some of the people we did. Although the area has grown 10 times over and he is the age of my youngest son. So memories flowed, as not long after our move from there my husband died and those pics of Steve's place just got to me. Our home there was priceless. Totally OT, and now I'm rambling which is why I try not to post beyond. But reason for writing him and believe me, he is living in one of the most beautiful places around. Again, my apoliges, I would be glad to write to you Stevation....on a totally different topic....See MoreI'm Beginning to Think Brand Just Doesn't Matter
Comments (18)I have only discovered this forum recently, so not at all aware of the poor reviews on Viking ranges. I bought my 30" dual fuel Viking range over 10 years ago, and it will be going into my new kitchen. I initially had some trouble w/ the heating element. It was under warranty and Viking covered all the replacements and extended the warranty. It's been fine otherwise and I bake alot. I am very pleased w/ the gas cooktop. Since I have had a good relationship w/ Viking as a company and the product itself, I have nothing bad to say about them. I have a bottom freezer KA fridge , that I estimate at 8 or 9 years old. Never had ANY issues w/ it. LOVE the bottom freezer and will probably always have that arrangement. I have a Bosch DW less than 1 year old that I am very pleased with. This kitchen is open to our family room and quiet operation was high on the priority list. We barely hear it running, just a faint swishing sound . I DO pre-rinse, so have no problems w/ dishes coming out clean. SO in addition to my newer DW, the other appliances are going into my new kitchen. In time I suppose my Viking will die, and I will cross that bridge when the time comes. Beside the Viking I am not brand motivated. Bought the KA fridge due to bottom freezer and good pricing. The Bosch DW was a no brainer. My favorite appliance store was selling a few floor models and I got it for about half price. Good luck in the selection process. I know from my experience in making decisions for my remodel I wavered thru parts and was decisive in other aspects. Sometime you just have to stop the research, decide and then live w/ the decision....See MoreLosing Weight/Dieting: What Works For You . . . And What Doesn't?
Comments (30)Wow, what a lot of really great ideas for me . . .and for all of us here. Thank you!!! I'm following a lot of it and have lost 12 pounds so far. Mainly by cutting out most carbs and white sugar, and as Kelly suggested, doing interval training. I'm also keeping bags of fresh, pre washed baby carrots, baby bell peppers and green beans to munch on when I get hungry. Last night we grilled out burgers and I had mine without the bun. It's getting easier to eat like this and I'm finding the cravings for sweets and cheese are becoming less with each day . . . thankfully! As I mentioned in an earlier post here, I wasn't vastly overweight, just at the tops of what my weight should be for my height and age. Now I'm 12 pounds lighter and my clothes fit so much better! I'd still like to drop another 8 pounds. We fly out this Thursday morning to Palm Beach and then on to the Tampa area 4 days later. I've already eaten dinner and lunches out several times since I started this weight loss drive and have found it pretty easy to eat out healthfully . . . as long as it's in a regular and not a fast food restaurant. Salads with grilled meats, nuts, etc. are my go-to's, with a lite salad dressing on the side; hold the croutons and bread sides (LOL). But, as always, I have to be so careful that "lite" doesn't contain any artificial sweeteners, as I'm extremely allergic to them, especially aspertame/aspartame. So many thanks for all the great, helpful ideas. I'll continue to read them, although I'm not sure if I'm taking my laptop with me to Florida yet. Comments (41)Needing to get the room "done", we used the boxes we had. Maybe will change out to something "lighter" like Jodie White Designs posted. I like that. I wanted to share the temporary "finished" product and say thanks for all the comments. We tried 10 different mirrors, but nothing seemed better than what we had. Still looking for something with a narrower frame but the one we have now is growing on me. Tundra on the walls and Deep Space on the ceiling. New light fixture. I feel like we need something on the wall (left side if you're facing the sink) - maybe a larger art work or a black and white framed print. I love the suggestion of the orchid on the counter to fill the space / extra height. Thank you!...See Moreleelee
