Help with artwork and accent colour in guest bedroom
Comments (29)ok, moved some things around. Again, sorry for the bad pictures, the lighting was not the best but I just won't have a chance to do this for the next week. The wall with the mirror has the doorway in it so I actually lose space. Then the main walkway would be right next to the bed. The other wall with what looks to be a dresser (small bookcase) has closet doors and inswing of entry door. So the beds are best on the wall they are on. I put the large picture where the mirror was originally. Beds separated with same tables with table lamps and mirror moved Table in between beds with a chair in the corner which could be replaced with a long narrow table or floating shelf. That's about the furthest that I want to block the windows as we're on acreage and have a nice view I even tried the small prints above the headboards but they don't work for me. Cawaps, thank you for the mock up. I think I'm still leaning towards oval frames if I can find ones I like. 1 pinkmountain, lol. Thank you again, everyone....See MoreBedroom Tweaking, Continued (art placement, etc.)
Comments (20)Kitch4me (I always thought the "kitch" in your name stood for "kitchen," though it just occurred to me that it could mean, well, kitch, which I like even better) I've chosen the last of the two pictures to hang between the windows, at least, for now. One of these days, my artist friend will make it over to help me (re)organize my artwork, and, then, all bets are off as to where they'll end up. I did reorganize my shelves a bit. I even took iphinkmountain's advice & added some baskets at the bottom - put photo albums and my old journals (dating back to high school, I think) in them. ShawNshawN - thanks for the calculations! I absolutely generally agree with you about hanging art eye height - and since I'm 5'3" and live alone, that's the standard I use - right? I don't really care what "average" eye height is in my home. That said, not all my art is eye height. For example, I have this vignette: The lower piece is hanging quite low, but it is eye height, for me, when I'm sitting on my sofa directly across from it. Which brings up the art above the bookshelves, directly across from my bed... that's art that I see when I'm in/on my bed. The photo above, taken from my bed, is how I see the art when I have a direct view of it. Are there exceptions made to the "eye level" rule when "eye level" is generally not a standing view?...See MoreGirl's lavender and white bedroom needs wall art help
Comments (3)The metal wire picture hanger is too small for the wall, but I agree adding more white with the other frames might be too much. Maybe swap out one of the white frames for something metallic or pull one of the blues from the bedding....See MoreBedroom wall art Or mirror thoughts?
Comments (9)lol. i've been through earthquakes for 60 years and haven't had anything fall on me. They make earthquake type of hangers for paintings and mirrors. if they're hung in the stud, and securely fastened, you'll be fine. (and if we get one that will make those fall out, you have a lot more to worry about than a mirror falling on your head!) But on that note, I don't think a mirror is right over the bed. Your headboard is plenty. you don't need anything else. if you want, you can stick some mirrors over the nightstands. Otherwise, I think the room looks very nice the way it is....See MoreMolly
