Bedroom wall art Or mirror thoughts?

Finally was able to finish master bedroom but can’t decide if I should put some sort of wall art or mirroring onto wall behind headboard or nightstands. House is in So Calif-so we do get periodic earthquakes😅 any ideas?

I definitely wouldn’t want a heavy mirror (or framed art for that matter) on top of my headboard, that would worry me to death and I don’t live where they have earthquakes. What about mirrors behind the nightstands instead?

25 year resident of SoCal. Would not think of hanging anything above the headboard regardless of how well it’s attached.

You could consider adding 70s heavy texture to the bed instead of macrame to the walls. Think Anthropologie levels of texture. You won't need alot,say one long lumbar,2 coral velvet, and a throw. Then a couple more soft coral accents (Pantone's new colour of the year) and a tiny bit of Yves Klein Blue. These small additions would make a large impact in your mostly neutral space and not let your headboard boss 'em. Hi Maddie. You're off to a great start. But I do see areas that can be tweaked and improved on. I agree that there is a struggle with the desk placement and dresser placement. Is this a shared college apt where you need a desk in your room? I see a chair peaking out from the corner. What does that side of the room look like? Stand at the window to the right of your bed and take a photo that captures all of the opposite side of the room and then do the same from the left side of your bed so we can get an idea of actual space. Can you measure and draw a floorpan? You have a lot in the room and there may be alternator arrangements that work better. As far s above your bed two or three square art pieces depending on their size would work well. You lamps are a bit on the short side. I see the mustard throw and pillows. Is this a color you want incorporated in the room? I would lose the mirror above the dresser. It dates the space. I am not opposed to a mirror but an interesting one that hangs on the wall would be a more updated feature. Round and framed in the same color as your hardware like a thin black metal framed round mirror for instance. Is you desk also used as a vanity? Is that the reason for the mirror there?

Thank you partim. It took me forever to get the furniture how I wanted that was functional and didn't look awful. Like I wanted to see the tv from the desk and bed, and I wanted my phone and laptop cords to reach both as well so I wouldn't have to have two sets. It was just a bunch of little things. Those are great ideas and the pictures look great. The little black table is a foldup and doesn't stay there, I just occasionally use it for extra desk space when I need it. It actually goes in the closet when not in use. I can't really hang the shadow boxes so that's why they are on top of the dressers for now. Maybe one day I'll get to hang them. As for moving the dressers and swapping out some of the art, that's something I'll definitely have to consider. I'm not sure if the dressers will fit there if I move the TV over because the drawers may not have clearance to open but I might try. The TV doesn't get hit by the door, I was worried at first it would but it's a closet and I don't swing it open fast and it would hit the stand first before the TV if I did.

I agree that the rug is much too small as well as dark. The tones are taking away from the distinct table base and the coordinating chair legs. As an admitted minimalist, I'd have no rug there or one that's the same color as the floor but textural. The floors are beautiful. Given the many hard reflective surfaces, I think a mirror would be too much and would prefer a textural art piece. The height can't be greater than what's there now due to the vent. Although I really like the candlestick lamps below, it may look cluttered due to the glass cabinet close to the sideboard.

Mirror above headboard a definite no because of the shaking we get when the earth dances-but possibly above nightstands- just drawing a blank as to what style/ shape Might work??

Framed picture (or pictures) possibly above bed- trying to envision if I’d do a grouping or a sole landscape hung. Anyone have any pictures they’d suggest??

lol. i've been through earthquakes for 60 years and haven't had anything fall on me. They make earthquake type of hangers for paintings and mirrors. if they're hung in the stud, and securely fastened, you'll be fine. (and if we get one that will make those fall out, you have a lot more to worry about than a mirror falling on your head!)

But on that note, I don't think a mirror is right over the bed. Your headboard is plenty. you don't need anything else.

if you want, you can stick some mirrors over the nightstands. Otherwise, I think the room looks very nice the way it is.

I'm in the SF Bay Area. I have a batik wallhanging over my bed. The rod it hangs on is light enough that I'm willing to risk it falling in an earthquake.
