Terrible Storm
Comments (3)We were on the south side of that storm--more than an inch and a half of rain. I spent the evening bailing out a couple of whiskey barrels. Some petunias I just put in Sunday were pretty flattened, but they perked back up in the sun. I think your things will do fine....See Morerain to the left of me, rain to the right...
Comments (11)Me too - - no rain for two weeks now and not much before that. They said a shower would come last night but NOOOOOOOOOO, it did not. And there is nothing on the radar this week either. I am almost ready to bite the bullet and use money saved for less pressing things (you know, kids college and such - smile) to install drip irrigation! I sent a link to Donn's recent post containing information and suppliers to my husband - HINTHINTHINT--- but haven't heard a word of enthusiasm. The beds are far appart (over a dozen of them front and back) and after taking on burying hose a few years ago just to make some facuets to connect hose/sprinklers to, I don't think he is up for it. We are "babysitting" a neighbors yard this week while they are on vacation and they have a drip system in their beds. I am going to use the opportunity to really study how it is set up and maybe I can do it myself! Once it cools off that is.....it is just too disgustingly humid to move today. Comments (14)Ground got saturated in Dec. with the 3 1/2 in or so we got. 8 in. or more in 1 week & we will be in big trouble. I don't know when they lasted cleaned out our flood control channel some of trees are 20 ft tall, used to be able to look right through it. Not for years tho so now it is homeless encampment, large appliance dump, place for people to come & dump trash & horse manure. They used to come & start cleaning it out after 1st major rain, now they are gone as are street sweepers. They only work in wealthier areas. So this storm may bankrupt the state, as far as I know they didn't bother to seed the burn areas, I would have seen the planes I think. Those winds are really supposed to be major over 100 mph possible(never had anything like that before) I have taken all wind chimes,& yard art down & secured on patio, put sand bags & manure bags in black plastic bags are along edge of patio as gopher got my drainpipe full of dirt & I can't get it cleaned out so if my yard is overflowing won't get to house, I hope. Put all pots under orange tree so more protected. Have flashlight, batteries, food, meds. so don't have to go out at all. Fire stations have sand bags, think I will go get few more. This doesn't sound like normal rain, this is a series of storms & is supposed to get cold about wed. & snow at 3,000 ft. Thunderstorms also so may lose power so get the blankets ready....See MorePHOTOS of storm on Golden Pond
Comments (6)Wow, GP...that first picture takes my breath away! What a sky!! So glad no serious damage was done, and I love Junior. Too cute!! BTW, Felix...my nephew calls me "Auntie M," all the time. *grin* Marcia (who really identifies more with Dorothy...always trying to find the way home again)...See MoreNil13 usda:10a sunset:21 LA,CA (Mount Wash.)
