I actually like the layouts. Friends of ours have a second home where from the front, it looks like yours - long porch with entrance to the house and the MBR set back with French doors to the porch on the left side. That part of the porch is hardly ever used, and when they're having guests and someone might use it, they just close the drapes to the MBR. Their porch is continuous all around the house. As for the master bath and closet,a I always thought having the entrance to the closet from the at broom made no sense...until I lived in a condo that had it set up that way and I loved it - it was very convenient to go right tp from the shower to the vanity to the closet and back to the vanity. I would personally eliminate the door from the master bath to the laundry, but I also don't see it as a problem if you think it would be useful. Re the coat closet, you might consider moving the powder room to where the vacuum closet is now, and put the coat closet where the powder room is and the broom closet where the coat closet was.

Do you mean you attached a "couple" of photos? If so, they did not come through and thus your post is incomprehensible.

I'm quite sure moving the sink won't be easier (that'd mean moving the cabinets which I can't really do). But it'll be within 1-2" of centre (if not bang on...I need to try and put the box up before I know), so I'm fine with that. The purple drop-down fixture I'm guessing the position on based on where I think our dining table will be...but it's not exact by any means. The boxes on the right of the room represent our stairs, so it doesn't make sense to have the table centred in the room. The other fixture (blue) is the living area, and given the layout plus the recessed lighting I think it makes sense to have that one centred. As for the 4' rule, would you suggest lining up the light by the pantry with the pendants over the island, and then centring the other one between that light and the counter light? That would put it closer in line the stoves, though then the pantry may have a _little_ less light (maybe in in-cabinet light?).

Agree with MG, beautiful drawings Sena! Very creative and a lot of very thoughtful details. I do think a dining table works better with this layout and it's nice to see that getting ride of the pony wall behind the sink helps a bit with the narrowness of Morning Room. I actually already have a bench with the farmhouse table:) It lives slid under the table on the side closest to the kitchen unless in use. I also like the efficiency of this layout. With all of the options that have been discussed and drawn it's become clear that I need to prioritize my wants to help me choose. I've since found a few pictures with kitchen cabinets extending into rooms with different ceiling heights and I'm surprised I'm OK with the look. So, any thoughts on my variations above of MG's plan with either an extended or second island? This plan seems to get me the most elements I want with the sacrifice of countertop space.
