Forboystoo: I agree that the top needs shutters. Thank you for your efforts in providing a visual. Mine was actually WAY worse... Snookums: The roof looks brand new. I don't know how old it is because we just moved in last summer, but it is in great shape, much to my dismay. I would love to change the colour, but I just can't justify throwing away a perfectly good roof. Lazydaisynot: I agree that that bit of black on the vestibule needs to be painted to match the siding colour, whatever that may be. I don't think we'll be painting the brick pillars though. I'd prefer to find a colour that pulls the roof, the trim, the brick and the siding all together (that's not too much to ask, is it? ;) Hosenemisis: Trust me, we are working on the landscaping! That, along with ridding the exterior of all things black, is our summer project. I am a little bit lost when it comes to landscaping in front of the vestibule though. When we eventually open the vestibule up to turn it back into a porch, we are going to move the stairs to the front and have a curved path that goes from the stairs to the driveway. However, I don't know what to put in there in the meantime.

First: I'm not a water based phal grower, 20+ in bark mix, one mounted and a few in spagh for me. Did any conditions change prior to this starting? As in, was the plant moved to a warmer/colder/brighter/darker location? Could it be a sun angle change? Are the roots fully submerged normally? If these are new roots, when did you lose the end parts of those new roots? As I see the tell-tale sign of a few existing roots with just the center 'threads' left at their ends. I'd think that unless your tap water changed recently that wouldn't be the issue, but generally all plants like rainwater over tap. I'd also think that having 1/2 of a percent of HP in the water solution shouldn't hurt. Personally, I'd leave out the HP as I'm not sure what it contributes in a continuous soaking (Anybody have a answer?). While I'm on the soapbox: I'm not a big fan of SuperThrive either, maybe as an initial blast to a newly planted/repotted plant, but I don't think it is necessary to expose plants to it continuously. I seem to recall hearing that heavy use of ST can affect flowering, as in making them deformed. Good luck, Bob

Pretty room but a lot going on. Yes remove the bench and mirror. Any chance of putting the TV there? It's high over FP and the sofa is quite close. Or remove the console table behind the sofa so it can be moved further from TV. You may need a larger rug

I see navy, though I was in the camp of folks who thought that navy would work fine even if it were black. I also see salmon/terra cotta in the rug in addition to the orange. I'm generally more flexible with color matching when the colors are on a different plane (ceiling vs. wall. vs. floor). Light is going to fall on those surfaces differently, so even if they are exactly the same color they are going to look different because the light falls on them differently. One reason I wasn't so concerned about a black/navy mismatch. There isn't a lot of color in the stained glass, not a large area anyway, and it's in front of the colors from what's outside the window, so I don't really see that driving your choices. I already mocked up a bunch of stuff for you, and I have the files saved. If you have a paint color and/or sofa you want to mock up, let me know and I can throw it into a collage.
