Lars, I actually grew one of those plants in a pot. I spotted it at a grocery store nursery (labeled as a Madagascar Palm) one day and found it so unusual that I decided to buy it and take it home. It was very small only about six inches tall. I have a black thumb, but to my surprise, it thrived. When we moved, it was over three feet tall and the prickly base was as thick as my arm. I gave it to a plant loving neighbor; I hope it did well under her care.

Not my Garden!

Dawn, I have them in my yards also - one in the front, and several (in one pot) in the back. The one in the front yard gets too much water, but the ones in the back are doing well.

The ball in the picture claims to be bacon scented, and even tho' I don't notice it, apparently the dog does.

Did you bust the dog in the act or did you find the box after the dog was done tearing it apart?

how long do you expect a dog to wait?

I maneuvered it into the hallway from the porch, thinking to open it later. Went and sat at the computer and heard the sound of cardboard ripping. On investigation, he was caught in the act. He’s a good dog and does not destroy things so I just let him have at it. It was so funny. DH was nice and cleaned up the mess.

That is so funny, socks. We used to buy our late lab, Sarge a new chew toy or squeaky something every Christmas. We would carefully hide it while he was outside among the already wrapped packages under the tree with a ribbon around it. Then we would wait to see how long it would take for him to find it.

He never messed with any other wrapped gifts. But within 24 hours he managed to smell the one we bought. I guess there is a scent from the pet store or something because he would alert, go to the tree, nose around, then carefully stick his big head under the tree and come out with it in his mouth.

I love that you let him open the box, socks. I can just imagine how much fun he had ripping it open. What is it with kids and pets and boxes anyway!

Thank you so much for sending this in! It gave me a great laugh and made my day. Is this Oski that's the culprit? I'd love too see pictures of him! Maybe a mugshot of him in doggie jail. I would throw him a bone though, I know I love bacon too.

Oh my goodness that is too funny! I've had similar experiences with my dogs, Sadie and Ollie. I call them the Canine Demolition Team. Every time I bring a Chewy box into the house, they're all over it like white on rice. I'm glad our little guy is having a tail waggin' good time with his new toy. Oski looks like a little terrier I had as a kid. She got me through my teen years and came with me after we got married and moved into our first house.
