Lamp Store going out of business - Is this shade better?
Comments (28)Just to help clarify. Hopefully. The console table in front of the window IS the table that's in the close up picture. The round table is what the brass lamp is currently sitting on. Here's some room shots. That close up pic is why I didn't think it would look nice in front of the window...because it's all like big table, big lamp. Squirrel - IRL the cream shaded lamp is actually gold that's why I was asking. It does look more cream in these pics. Lol the hybrid lamp! The candle covers, I can't believe I'm admitting this but they're rolled up pieces of poster board! The size of the hole is larger than any candle sleeves I can find anywhere. I actually did buy some fat candles at michaels to stick in but it seemed if the cats even ran by the table fast they'd fall over. It was driving me crazy. The poster board was my alternative for now. (See why I should've bought that ebay lamp!) :) Bronwynsmom - I like those lamps. Part of my dilemma is if I don't use that brass lamp in the LR I don't know where else I could use it. And I really like it. Where do you put something that tall?...See MoreLetting things go -- nice things I just don't need anymore.
Comments (54)My husband gave me a beautiful string of pearls with a saphire clasp for christmas last year...guess I'm old lady :) But then my newest piece of jewelry is probably 1950 with most of it being 1880's...so perhaps I"m just an old lady at heart :) I love jewelry with history. Sell it and enjoy the vacation...and know that the person who buys it is probably someone like me who will cherish it as much as the original family member of yours did. As to purging...well frankly, I like stuff :oP I love all the stuff ya'll donate to charity because I haunt the goodwill and habitat store looking for it. I use it daily and it makes me feel good. But that said...I rather enjoy purging too, but perhaps that's linked to the fact that I bought a huge house full of someone elses "stuff". I happily donate items to habitat. I like the tax deduction, and I love the feeling of doing something positive for a charity I support. I also do put things outside with a "free" sign (because I think it's cute how people will take ANYTHING!...no one does that in Alaska) but most of those are children's things (which must be taken during school hours so DS does not see it LOL). That reminds me...I have a slide for free to put out tomorrow when he's napping LOL My one hoarded...hang on, I don't know, thing is my son's cloths and cloths I purchased for a set of twins we lost. I thought we were going to adopt or have another child and now that we've give up on that I have to open the boxes. I have literally dozens of large boxes full of lovely cloths, regular stuff, and brand new things for the babies we expected. I know I have to get to that stuff...it takes up a huge amount of space, both physically and emotionally, but I haven't quite gotten into the zone to be able to do that one. Maybe we should make a pledge...those of us who have some purging to do...I'm peronally going to get through those cloths and give them to someone who needs them within the first quarter of 2011. Jak...maybe you should empty the barn by then LOL Ok that's probably asking too much heh heh...See MoreWhat color curtains should I use?
Comments (14)Anglo, I agree. Why say something so rude instead of scrolling on by a thread that you can't be helpful on? It seems to happen fairly often. I think finding just the right shade of either color to match paint might be a challenge, unless you find the curtains first, then match the paint to them. So I'd go with whichever curtains you find that look most like what you have in your mind. Are you opposed to a print? I think there are some great fabrics that mix those colors. I keep picturing vintage barkcloth, but don't really know if vintage fits your style...I found some prints I think would look good with those colors:...See Morewe just moved and I’ve made some changes and they didn’t come out like
Comments (63)well, clearly people feel very free to be critical and hurtful to make themselves feel superior. Having gotten that off my chest--I would put 3 good sized, rustic wood, staggered height candle holders (Pottery Barn or Pier one) on the right side of the TV console and maybe a pretty simple live plant on the left--ivy or something not too tall- nothing under the TV. I would keep accessories to a minimum--use a few properly scaled things - they make a better statement. Too many small things seem busy....See MoreDG
