Would you put an area rug or coffee table in this room?
Comments (7)Honestly, I think part of the issue is the âÂÂline-em-upâ way the seating is arranged. It leaves a huge blank space in the middle of the room. Would you consider putting the loveseat in front of the window, and the couch at a right angle to it? I realize that they canâÂÂt be abutting one another, because of the reclining. But I think you can move the couch down toward the loveseat a bit. That is also why you donâÂÂt want a coffee table. I know from personal experience that it is always in the way with a couch with recliners. I would move the black cabinet to the wall space to the right of the curtains where the chair is now, if it will fit. Then rehang the two pictures centered between the drapery and the corner of the wall, not between the drapery and the light switch. A lamp on there would be nice. I would find a larger round table to sit in the corner between the two reclining seating pieces. Another lamp on there. The small chair could go to the left of the tv, with a small table beside it, near the stairs, another lamp there. If the chair goes near the tv, then I would use the floor lamp in the corner nearest the dining room, to the right of the couch, and another small table there. I think once you move things around and have the furniture out into the space a bit more, you will find you donâÂÂt need anything there, and will leave the open space for traffic and kids....See MoreHelp with Coffee table and "bringing together" my family room please!
Comments (19)Hello everyone! Thanks for your awesome advice. I agree w @groveraxle. I think I may need to consider replacing my rug w something a little more orangey. We love the gray poofy rug. But I’m not sure it matches and is making the purchase of the coffee table quite challenging. I liked @BeverlyFLADeziner recommendation of the 2 x silver patina tables. They are “different”. But I think I may need to add a glass top. What do you guys think of these one? Do they clash w the sectional? The first 2 are from wayfair and I think I’d put 2 as u all recommended. The 3rd amazon and only 1. Can I keep the rug or change it for something beigier? Sorry I stink at colors! You all have been tremendously helpful!...See MoreItems to place on our area rug in the family room
Comments (15)In the last picture you posted, it looks like there’s a light colored chair on the right. If that’s a chair, pull it away from the wall and set its two front legs on the rug. Wasn’t your original question what additional things can you put on the rug? And that would bring the chair into a conversational grouping with the other furniture already set on the rug....See MoreMCM Family Room Help Choosing Tulip Coffee Table
Comments (11)I would suggest marble rather than lacquer for the family room. My friend has a kitchen table where she used leftover marble from her slabs on a "tulip" base. It has gotten lots of abuse and still looks fine. Lacquer is more much delicate just as wood is more delicate than glass or stone surfaces. I spent a long time looking for the "perfect" coffee table. My aesthetic question would be why don't you want some element of contrast in the room. The wood MCM style tables have elegant lines and might be a bit of visual interest in all that white and pale....See Moreleelee
