IKEA Slipcover Sofa-Anyone Know Anything?
Comments (11)I'm going to be the negative one here. My Dh and I bought the Ektorp sofa and matching chair when we first got married. We needed something inexpensive and stylish and thought the price was right. IKEA's delivery service was horrible. We took a day off from work the day the delivery was supposed to come and they never showed up. On Day 2, my FIL spent an entire day at our house and again, they didn't show up. On Day 3, my FIL was at our house again and at 5:00, when they still didn't show, we called up screaming. If we hadn't called they wouldn't have shown up. It left a bad taste in our mouth but at least we got our furniture. However, the chair was in our house with limited use for 1 month and the leg sank in. The sofa pilows were a crumpled mess. The slipcover was dragging on the floor, not sure if it just didn't fit or if the cushions sank. I wasn't expecting much but it wasn't even worth the little amount that I paid. The frame was like cardboard and the cushions were the cheapest foam imaginable. Slipcovers faded after washing. After 1.5 years, the sofa looked beat up and we had to get a new one. My advice is to invest in the Mitchell Gold, unless you're planning to switch out your sofa in 2 years. Its a good sofa for a kids playroom (which is where my sofa ended up while the chair went to the trash) because then you don't have to worry about it but I wouldn't recommend it for a living space. The price point isn't so appealing once you notice that its not even worth $100. I think that's why there are so many of them on CL. People buy them and then realize they need to get something better. Others may have had a better experience but I learned my lesson. If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have spent my hard earned $$ on cheap junk. It's almost better to live with hand me downs until you can save $$ to purchase quality pieces that will last over 5 years. Just my $.02. Good Luck with whatever you decide....See MoreAnything between Leicht and Ikea?
Comments (14)Purchased a $40k+ Kitchen cabinet from Leicht. Pros: 1) Great look & nice design. 2) Great sells team. 3) Hardware and Hooks are strong and nice. Cons: 1) All measurements are in metric (hard to know if measurements are right) Long manufacturing time and delivery time. Will miss delivery date as scheduled. 3) American standard wall are 24 inches deep, Leicht Kitchen cabinets 22 inches = will loss 4 inches on complete cabinet space layout. Don’t understand why kitchen cabinets manufactured for the US are made to Europe standards. It’s like taking a square peg and sticking into a round hole, if you shave the corners, it will fit. 5) All cabinets are made from “Furniture Grade MDF” Medium Density Fiberboard, not solid wood. Same MDF cabinet box as all other Fiberboard Kitchen Cabinets. 4) Will cut corners, will not supply full panels if you don’t see full panels. You only get what you can see. (example: Side panels next to stove, refrigerator, microwave etc.) Only will supply a short peace for outside appearance only. Once you have the cabinet’s installed, don’t ever plan on replace the stove, refrigerator or any for appliances, because you will see the missing portions of boards on each sides of the appliances. They will cut corner, to save money in areas of the cabinet you don’t see. 5) Kick board is held in by plastic clips on out side of board, viewable if kneel down to clean floors. Told by install don’t kneel down to wipe floor, just sweep. 6) Made to look good, not to last. Any missing parts or mistake will require 3 month re-order and wait. Would not recommend Leicht Kitchen Cabinets, stick with Ikea you know what your getting. Leicht charges for installation. If you do it yourself it will be hell, and everything is in German....See MoreI need help changing up our living room/tv wall!
Comments (163)I’m still working on my room! I took a break for a while because I couldn’t find anything I liked. I did find this plant shelving thing that I like. My question is? Does it look ok with my picture or should I find something similar to put there? I just put some plants I have up there for now. I like the black one. I’m just thinking it’s not matching. Thanks in advance ☺️...See MoreAnything you would change in this kitchen design?
Comments (37)you have made some thoughtful adjustments to your kitchen layout based on the feedback you received. Adding an under counter beverage fridge and a drink station to the wall with the window on the left side seems like a practical and convenient addition to your kitchen. Similarly, creating a command center with a charging station for your devices on the cabinet side of the fridge wall can be a great way to keep your family organized. Regarding the size of your prep sink, 20 inches seems like a reasonable size product, but it ultimately depends on your personal preferences and how you plan to use the sink. If you frequently cook and prepare large meals, a larger sink may be more practical for you. On the other hand, if you have a smaller kitchen or don't do a lot of cooking, a 20-inch sink may be sufficient. Overall, it sounds like you have put a lot of thought into your kitchen design and have made some smart adjustments based on feedback. I hope your new kitchen layout turns out great!...See Moreiamtiramisu
