Hi, I'm trying to decide on coffee & end table materials as well. I'm thinking about maybe one end-table in glass, don't want everything to match and too much glass to me provides a "cold" look. Besides wood/glass, I'm considering stone or composite tops with metal base. Saw a nice one (floor model on sale) at Domain two weekends ago (no one there said anything about Chapter 11), it looked a lot like limestone, but was actually a stone composite. The sales person mentioned that it was easily stained & the iron base was a bit too ornate for us anyway, but it gave us the idea to have something custom made, using limestone or a more practical composite that looks like limestone along with a simpler base--will be doing some research this weekend to see if there's a custom shop that makes them. I'm also planning on taking a look at the "natural steel" tables that Room & Board offers. If you go on-line to their web site, you'll see a number of base table styles with choices on table tops, natural stone, composite stone, glass, etc. Prices seem pretty reasonable, not sure yet about quality and how it actually looks "in person". Lastly, re: wood, one furniture brand for wood tables that I'll be taking a closer look at is Harden, I believe that their products are all solid wood so they can be refinished down the line. Nice style choices with this manufacturer too. Maybe someone else on the board can speak better than I as to the quality. Michelle

Our living room is used more often now that we have a tv in it (the family room with its HUGE tv is sometimes more overwhelming than I want it to be and our living room has "my" Direct tv dvr in it so I live here now lol). I don't have any pics yet; I couldnt find their "whole shebang" sets online. Jordans is a major furniture store in the boston area and the only one (of Jordans, Bernie and Phyls, and Bob's Discount Furniture) to offer returns/refunds within 7 days less delivery (and pickup) charges. Soooo...for $200 (delivery is $99 and if we return another $99) its worth it to me to accept it all and then return it if necessary. I guess I am just afraid of the glass being too cold or overly formal. But every wood set they showed us, it was just tooo informal. We ordered new carpet from Home Depot last week so we want to put off delivery of our furniture til at least then. I can't believe I convinced DH to even go looking; he told me afterwards that he knew we'd be buying something today lol. He knows me much too well!

What you've done thus far looks lovely, the dining room is yummy. Most of the living room is done well but I have a little issue with the balance of the room. In the photo ,looking straight on to the sofa, I see that it's not centered on the wall and the chevron pattern chair seems crowded. Is it possible to center the couch and move your heirloom between the two windows to another spot. Take the chevron chair and put it at an angle up near the window more to the right of the window. Then take your heirloom piece and place it to the left of the sofa. Just a suggestion.
