Is this for a guest bedroom? That trendy cactus stuff would look good in here is the first thing that popped up in my mind. ( I had a pink southwest girls bedroom in the late 80s/early 90s so it’s kind of 80s style :-)

Kevin, forgive me for asking, but what are the dark spots on the walls? Could it be mold?

I read your post last night and wondered if you WANT to keep the pink walls or if you're looking to do something else?

Could you expand on your question, so people could offer more help? Do you want to work around what is there, or remove it, and do you want to keep the pink? Is the current furniture like the bookcase and white painted bureau staying? What is your budget for making changes?

oh wow. that's some nice upholstery! I'd go for visually light, leggy furniture..so that the room wouldn't be too bottom heavy. If you love rattan-there are beautiful pieces of furniture made of it, from small end tables to etageres. I can see some industrial element as well-to juxtapose with the very comfy, patterned chairs. Plants, of course. Bohemian doesn't necessarily gravitate toward bright colors..there are no rules when it comes to bohemian, i guess that's partly what makes this style..No strict rules, and an attitude of a traveler I found some pictures-they use neutrals mostly, yet the rooms are bohemian I think your chairs are wonderful. I wouldn't even think of reupholstering them, unless the fabric is torn or ruined or something. Can you attach a pic of your room? But if not-can you move everything out of the room, or, say, put it all in a corner, and look only at the chairs? Or even-sit on the floor, look at the chairs?:) some brilliant ideas come when we change things, or at list our visual relationship to them I'd make these chairs stars of the show. You have a great opportunity to create a unique room, with these.

The more I look at the rooms the more I love the house. There is a LOT of art in that house, and also furniture as art. Love the little chair in the master bedroom. Love the bold colors. Love the painted tile countertops in the kitchen, along with the cabinets and what appears to be a bamboo floor. Love the sitting area off the kitchen, that is a dream of mine. Nothing of mine would go in there, but I like and appreciate most of it. I love the bathrooms, they look fun. Not sure how easy to clean they would be, I'm not a fan of wallpaper in bathrooms for that reason, but I don't even know if it is wallpaper, it might be some type of plaster.

Yellow and pinks are more or less complementary colours. It is a classic combination in colour designs. However, it also depends on the hues of colours. A hot lipstick pink may not look great beside a faded creamy yellow for example. In the end, it really depends on what kind of effect you are trying to achieve. I don't really care about clashing colours myself because in the natural world, all colours are mixed together not segregated. But for those folks who wants the "designer" looks, it is another story. The general rule with regard to colours in gardening is that soft colours especially blue and pink tones colours will appear further away as opposed to hot fiery colours. This "rule" may be important for someone who has a small garden. If you want your garden to appear larger than they are, you may want to plant all the soft blue tones flowers in the back and the red fiery to the front as the eyes will detect the fiery colours first. It will trick the eye that the garden is much larger than it is.

Do guest rooms need a "theme"? What would it be? Well, in my house it would probably be "Go Home, now..." Can you tell me if the walls and dresser need a good scrubbing, or is it an issue with your camera? I'm seeing some brown spots... If you're keeping what you have in there, I'm seeing a shabby chic/farmhouse-y sort of look...would that be something that you like? You need a few more things for guests to feel comfy...a mirror, maybe a wicker rocking chair...

I've read this thread three times, and haven't responded because I don't understand what you are asking. You have a pink bedroom (shown) and you want to redecorate it in an 80s theme without repainting? Why not open to repainting? Or are you open to repainting? What must stay, or can everything go?

What aspect of 80s design are you looking to recreate? Art deco revival? Memphis design? That weird country trend that had geese in everyone's kitchen?

it's for a guest room and it is my guest room my walls don't have mold there just nail holes i like the pastel pink but I don't know what 80's art could go with that color what are your suggestions?

Patrick Nagel comes immediately to mind. Lots of pink and other pastels mixed with bold black.
