Buying Trees Online
Comments (12)Do *NOT* order plants from them in the summer/fall. When you order, you get their “Arrive Fresh” guarantee which gives you only FIVE days to determine if your plants are going to be healthy or not. Now, other than any OBVIOUS defects that you can SEE (which I assume they would never ship in the first place), IMHO there is no way to know if a tree is going “healthy,” even after the additional 45 days you have to report damage. BE AWARE: That the Shopper Approved reviews you will see for this company on their website are only entered immediately upon ordering. You cannot – and I tried – enter feedback AFTER your purchase. I bought two arborvitae from them in late June 2017. I rigorously followed the planting instructions. One of the two plants did not appear to be in the greatest shape and I did bring this to their attention. Yes, it was 14 days after their 45 day "grace period." However, at the time, I was told to wait until spring and if the tree did not “come back” they would “take care of it.” As I suspected this spring (2018) the tree is now a pile of brown leaves. [I have photos of the two trees together if that would be useful to anyone.] When bringing this to their attention, sharing emails from the person who made the promises (who, of course, no longer worked there), I was told that the “best” they could do was offer a 50% discount on a replacement since I had not purchased their “1 year guarantee” (which BTW is very easy to miss on their order form). So if you are considering ordering from them, my suggestions are: (1) Order in the SPRING only so you are at the peak growing season and can reasonably determine health within their narrow 45-day window. (2) File a complaint about the tree’s health – REGARDLESS of condition – within 5 days so you are on record in case the tree turns out to be defective. (3) Always order their 1-year replacement guarantee. HOWEVER, note that when you do, their attractive prices are no longer so attractive when compared with others, including local nurseries who always warrant what you buy from them. (4) Your local nursery will provide much better service and warranty because they want your repeat business, which the Tree Center clearly does not (at least based on the way I was treated). Good luck!...See MoreDoes anyone order Christmas card online? Can you share site?
Comments (4)I have ordered lots of specialty items from celebrationsbyshelia.com. Look at her site. She can talk to you on the phone about your particulars too. She did my daughter's save the dates, our wedding breakfast invitations, and our Christmas cards for the past few years. One Christmas card featured our bridal couple's picture under the floral arch as they said their "I do's." I wanted to send that one because I loved the picture so much and I wanted friends and relatives from across the country who were unable to join us to see the happy couple on their special day. She will also address and mail the cards for you if you want....See MoreDoes anyone have a Christmas tree up?
Comments (33)I tend to do my inside first, then the outside Last year I bougt 2 sets of the Alpine tree (6 in all-ingraduate heights & placed them in each of my 6 front windows. Love the look-takes up less room & it looks like a mini forest of tree in the window..white lights, of course! Opted to put my 6' blue spruce out front and am going to attempt to decorate with Flamingo's clear balls filled w/popped corn & tie onto the branches w/red ribbons,so they're showy during the day & white lit at night I have 4 nice planters that will hold greenery aross the 28' in from with my 4 lighted big 12" sparkle balls atop the greenery sprigs. Hectic week upcoming..helping w/20 centerpieces for a 91st birthday party. signing up for Medicare on Tues & star my eyedrops soon after for cateract surgery in my left eye on 12/01 and again 12/08 in my right eye. NO rest for the wicked, I guess! Not 1 bit of shopping started either...been so busy w/Ernie! He got home from rehab on Friday-seems to be doing fine....See Morehas anyone had success ordering plants/trees ONLINE?
Comments (20)They sell a lot of trees that are not well-regarded by many horticulturists - like flowering pears, Paulownia (Empress tree), hybrid poplars and willows and Leyland cypress. Trees that grow fast tend to be weak wooded and often come apart in windstorms. Or have a host of other problems that make them not so great in the landscape (like invasiveness in many areas). And again, they are offering a very broad range of plants, many that will not thrive in a Florida climate. As I stated in my previous post, you need to do your homework on appropriately climate-suited plants before you look into ordering anything online. Then see which, if any of those, are offered locally for the best size and the best price. Only when you have eliminated all local sources should you resort to mail order. Recommended landscape trees for south Florida. And to help to get you started on actually locating the plants, check out this listing. Seems rather comprehensive to me :-))...See Moreamylou321
