Treatments for small room with a lot of windows
Comments (36)I'm late to the discussion, but I like your choice(s). I have 3 walls of windows in our sunroom and I love roman shades in there. And we don't even need them for privacy - but we do need a bit of relief from the sun. My shades are almost always pulled down 1/3 of the way at the most. However my windows are taller than yours. Our romans are solid as are the slipcovers in that room. I have a pillow obsession (and maybe a throw/blanket obsession) and love to swap out. ANYWAY, the rug is beautiful as is the paint color. I think the light fabric is a good choice and will keep the room from being too dark. I may be biased on that thought, because I favor more airy, light rooms. Glad you didn't go with valances! No, not the way it goes at our house cuz it'd drive me over the edge. I'm kind of a get one project out of the way before starting another one type of gal. LOL And we DIY alot of things, and I couldn't handle more than 1 at a time. I bet you could recover the chairs yourself....See MoreUpdate: Dining Room, Please Help with Chair Fabric
Comments (25)I agree that none of the above is the answer. The trellises all seem too clean and too geometric to work with the rug, and the ikat is ....I'm not sure, maybe too large. Plus none of the sample colors seem to work well with the carpet either. They seem to provide too much contrast. About the curtains, I think you need them. The room has a definite formal look, and to my eyes, the window as it is now looks unfinished, but not in an intentional way. What you do with the window might depend on how you feel about pattern. If you want to limit patterns to the carpet and chairs, then one possibility might be curtains in as close to the color of wall as possible. If you want more pattern, then how about the colors in the carpet? I don't think white, ivory, or cream curtains would work. I think they would give the effect of three walls in that interesting gray (?) color and then one big white wall. That would be too modern for your look. I also think you do need curtains rather than a valence or swag. Reasoning? There is a large expanse of white blind, and the blinds look contemporary. If there were an array of other contemporary elements in the room, I think they'd work, but there is a soothing "stillness" that comes from your furniture, accessories, and color choices. So the blinds look jarring and out of place. I think they need the softening effect of full-length curtains. Sigh. It's always so much easier to give a critique of other people's spaces than to finish any of the rooms here!...See MoreOld Cat Urine stain on upholstery
Comments (3)I ended up using Nature's Miracle. I was really expecting it not to work--but it did. I sprayed liberally, blotted with a white cloth, then prayed the spray itself wouldn't stain. But it didn't! Stain and smell completely gone. Oh, the Nature's Miracle stinks almost as bad as the cat urine, but that smell too was gone in a couple days....See MoreFabric to cover dining room chairs
Comments (9)I've used the Crypton fabric for DR chairs. It's an easy care fabric and simply wipe off any spills with a slightly damp cloth. Good to go! You can check Jo - ann's for a sale coupon to use. If you have a store close by, they usually have samples on display. Not sure if they still allow you to check-out samples and take home for review. Cost is probably fairly close to Sun- brella but I love the no-stain factor of these fabrics. I believe it's about 3/4 yard for each two chairs depending on style. I ordered 3 yards for 6 chairs and had enough to add piping. I removed the chair seats from the chairs and took to the upholstery shop I use. Easier to transport than the whole chair. Labor was about $25/per chair. There is also a sofa re-cover project in the future using Crypton fabric too. Good luck!...See MoreJudyG Designs
