Yes pull it forward so that just a bit of floor shows in front of the piece in front of it (fireplace??). It will then help to ground the space instead of just grounding the sofa.

I don’t think you need to have the entire slider window area accessible. Pull the couch back more. looks like the doorway is on the left. No harm in covering some of the right half of slider.

I like your flooring. Mind sharing what it is? Are your floors heated? I think you should pull the sectional diagonally away from the windows/slider into some of that vacant floor space. Then pull the rug forward until it is under the front 1/3 of the regular seat part, extending past both ends by at least a foot or more.

Not really suggesting the sofa be on the diagonal but that you pull it away in a diagonal direction from the present location. It will still face as now, but will be a bit further away from that corner.

Ahh, those pics show you can't re-orient the table. I would still get that sofa to have some air behind it on the window wall. and be further back from the fireplace wall. Then lay the rug as decoenthusiaste suggest. One other idea,if you don't need them for constant use,re-locate the dining room end chairs.

The area rug looks fine now that you pulled it to the front a little. I will do only one side table and on the side that you have the space which is as you walk into the area. A round one would look great you have everything square you need to soften the space. For what I can see the coffee table is glass, you can have a glass round side table with a wood base or polished chrome base or all wood.

Hi I would suggest that you take a picture of the room (Without the rug in it) and then go to esalerugs then find a similar rug on their website. Then you can place the rug into the picture. It allows you to see how it will look without breaking your back moving the furniture. It's a great feature.
