I have a three sided pillow shaped like a pyarmid. It has a rolled rim that the kindle, tablet or book sits in. It sits flat and you don't need to hold on to anything. I usually keep a throw pillow in my lap for it to rest on, brings the tablet up closer. Laying down you might have to prop it with a pillow to get a better angle. If you search pyramid pillow, many catalogues and Amazon have them. Probably E Bay too. My hand bothered me until I got the pillow.

When I was using my Kindle it was not the holding that caused the pain after a while it was the swiping using an hand motion rather than doing a straight wrist motion and using the arm not the wrist. Do not know if it would make any difference for you.

Alisande, I am having trouble also, from holding my Kindle in my left hand when I go to bed. Didn't there used to be some sort of knob which would adhere to the Kindle? I have searched for it but not found one. If you learn of an accessory that would help, would you let me know? Thanks!

You don't say what Kindle you have. Answers would be different for a larger Kindle Tablet or a 6" Kindle. Below is a solution for a 6" Kindles available at Amazon for 11.00.

If it's the small paperwhite you could possibly use 2 of the pop up knobs like for cell phones. I have one on my phone. You could also possibly use one of the hand straps for cell phones that stick on. Do you have have your kindle in a case? And if so does it not make into a stand? My tablet covers do but not sure if his kindle does.

I use a case with a magnetic lid. The Kindle snaps into the hard shell and closing the lid will switch the device between wake/sleep. It stands up nicely on it's own and is most stable in the horizontal position. Amazon has quite a few styles:

Wow--so many good suggestions! I have two Kindle Fires--7" and 8.9", both in cases--and a 7" Nexus Android tablet (no case). A couple of years ago I bought the pyramid cushion Marcopolo described, but it swallowed up my Nexus, so I gave it to my little grandson. it works well with his kid's Kindle.

I checked out all your suggestions, and I think I'll a) get a strap like the one Watchmelol recommended, b) get the aluminum stand in Raven's first recommendation, and c) find a throw pillow like Rose's--just the right height.

My husband uses his aluminum stand every day and night. He has the smaller one since he has a paperwhite kindle. It has been a wonderful purchase.

My sister swears by this type.

I want to do a product review. We bought 2 of these little tables when we got our new recliners in the new house. These things are awesome. They fold up flat for easy storage. They are lightweight for moving. They are adjustable in a few ways. We use them every day and I would immediately replace it if I lost it. We use them to eat from, he uses his kindle stand on his. I use mine for various purposes and projects. And for a price of under $13.00 each it is an excellent choice.
