Help with LR Curtains, please!
Comments (14)Oh no, don't say pink undertones! I think that may be the picture, I tried hard to stay on the gray/taupe side. I am just reading all comments and agree with pretty much everyone. As I tried to visualize the curtains what I saw was too much contrast. I think a neutral (off-white) curtain would look much better. I even tried to cancel my curtain order but it was too late. I think my problem is that I like color pops when I see designers do it, but I just can't pull it off myself. I do better with matching tones, and I prefer light/neutral spaces overall. Thanks everyone. I guess I'll have to do more shopping....See MoreCurtailed by Curtains - the LR saga continues
Comments (21)I'm baaaaaaaaack. I went away for a conference for a day and a half and I'm already on page three! This board does move fast! So...my husband is fed up. This isn't exactly the first time I have jumped the gun and then tried to get him to fix it for me. He said that we need to live with it for at least a month, and then if I still want to move the rods up, or take them down completely and put rods somewhere else, fine. He'll help me then. And I'm fine with that. It seems reasonable. I did, however, find some different drapes, just to see what they would look like. They are a darkish green with a hint of gold in them. I don't know if they clash with my sofa or compliment in the same sort of family. My husband loves them, but errr... What do you think? Too dark?...See MoreExterior design dilemma; should garage doors blend/contrast w/ house?
Comments (6)We have a house in the family we are considering that has the same weird front door on the side arrangement and garage door in front (city lot, no other place for a garage) and our plan if we redo the house is a garage door that blends with the house and then spruce up the front and the walkway to the front as much as possible. (We are wondering even about putting some kind of porch over the front door so that there is some front-facing structure that can say ‘hello, front door here!’ but we haven’t quite decided what form that would take yet.) Otherwise people see the garage door and get confused about a lack of front door....See MoreLR to kitchen Curtain Flow
Comments (16)The original blue and white fabric seems too vibrant with your subdued colors in the living room. The second choice seems better, but still might be too much with the rest of your furnishings. What about using a more neutral, softer drapery in your living room and use the more colorful ones in the dining area? If you get living room draperies that complement the print you decide on, it could flow nicely. And actually, I like the living room with just the shade on the window. It looks like draperies might be awkward behind the sectional. It would help to see a picture of how the two spaces relate to/adjoin each other. It looks like the slider in the kitchen isn't the same slider seen in the living room shot - how close to each other are they?...See MoreJ M
