Wall color flow in Kitch & LR - Pics included
Comments (5)Thanks for the input...we originally wanted to bring the green in to add a "splash of color" and some "interest" to the kitchen, but the reason for posting this thread, is that something does not seem right to me. What if we went with Spiced Vinegar (the main color) throughout the kitchen but painted green aroudn teh pantry area? I guess we are trying to do something different so that we are not "neutral boring"...??? But maybe we are forcing things and need to stay more conservative?...See MoreColor flow with blue kitchen
Comments (14)thanks everyone. the BM Saybrook sage is not as similar to RH Silver Sage as the name might imply. the saybrook sage is more saturated than RH silversage, and it's more green than the silver sage. (i have a BM fan deck, and the RH silver sage is committed to memories like the back of my eyelids) hehe on the bottom of the stairs we screwed the gate into the 2x4 and tied the 2x4 to the railing with cable ties. on the other wall we screwed into the white trim because it's easy to patch up white trim. it's not as easy to patch natural oak. :) as for not having trim... i had a couple instances where one paint directly met another. it was the blue and the silver sage. you can kind of see one joint in the corner by the back door on picture 3. as long as you do a really clean job and pick colors that complement each other i think it looks fine! RH Silver Sage: BM Saybrook Sage: for what it's worth, in the RH silver sage collection, the "Pale Silver" is also really nice - it's a barely there version of the silver sage. we had that in our master bath....See MoreNeed help picking Color for LR Sofa, Curtains and carpet
Comments (9)I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my living room. Knew the colors I was going to paint, the flooring I was going to put in and the color of he sofa. Then I went sofa shopping. I needed a 3x2 sectional for my living room (large room). I went to several stores that sold higher end furniture - wanted something that would last. One of the stores had a sofa that was the exact size that I wanted sitting in their back room - the person who ordered the sofa refused delivery - didn't care for the color. I got the sofa at 60% off. It is cream colored. I was planning on light walls and a darker gray sofa . . . Since I had not painted the walls yet I could make this purchase with little angst. Had I already painted I would have most likely still purchased the sofa as it was a much better sofa than I could have afforded without the discount and I would have re-painted the walls....See MoreHelp with layout: Kitchen/LR
Comments (17)All your comments @Mamaham_NC_Zone7 are very true! Yes you absolutely need a closet or at least a wall hook which in this proposed layout can be best placed at the end of the foyer- see the reasoning behind having the wall there:) the washer and dryer were incorporated in the kitchen with the very important comment that this kitchen placement/footprint is golden due to exit to yard, BUT a major improvement must be made to its actual layout. In other words the position of the actual elements has to be refined/optimized. You have to understand where @rensteach is in the construction process. My understanding is they are exploring now with the architect possible layouts. He has offered a few options for critiquing so that he best determines the wall placement. Once the client agrees with a placement of rooms/walls in principle, the process can proceed to next steps. Your kitchen layouts are amazingly detailed and that I hope helps the client inform their own opinion down the road when the kitchen will be designed. A last note about open concept. It was a very important trend that we now see reversing a bit. Due to the fact that large spaces are easier and cheaper to construct but harder to furnish and live in. Having lived through this trend professionaly and personally I am a big supporter of semi-open spaces. You really do not need to see EVERYTHING when you get inside someone's house. BUT an open and versatile flow improves a family's life tremendously and it seems you have found your best layout:) which is always amazing. Everyone deserves and should have the home they love:)!!...See MoreColleen
