Lighting Design Dilemma Bathrooms

Bathroom lighting advice requested

I'm second guessing myself as to where I should place pendent lights in my bathroom. Below is a generic drawing of the cabinetry and below that a couple pics of the space as it currently is. The mirrored armoire will be between the two windows. The photo below is taken in the bedroom looking towards the bathroom. There are double French doors going into the bathroom and I specifically didn't want a second sink (to pay for and clean) nor did I want mirrors over the sink or make up area. The windows look out to an uphill slope with trees and the only light comes from the 2 north windows and a window in the bath/shower (perpendicular and on the right of the pic). So my question is . . .do I get a gorgeous pendent and hang it low enough to slightly block the window or do I hang it so the bottom of the pendent is at the top of the window? Also, the faucet is Kohler's Vibrant French Gold. Should I do ORB hardware and lighting metal to go with the bronze windows or do I stick with a brushed antique gold. The cabinetry will be a dark walnut, the counters a cream/white quartz and the sink is a white/cream natural stone onyx. Thanks Houzzers!

Lighting should match your brass hardware, not your bronze windows.

The best lighting in a bath near a mirror could be the old double swag, one on either side of the mirror somewhere out of the elbow knocking it area? LOL If you put it above your head/mirror...you get shadows. You might should look into a pair of sconces on the wall at about temple height, your temples that is..... on either side of the mirror. That would likely be best..

Here is one in chrome that extends 9 inches. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/capital-lighting-capital-vanities-chrome-bathroom-light/P1452623 We went with this one in brushed nickel that extends 9.5" and have it with the lights down. http://www.destinationlighting.com/item/feiss-lighting-hamlet-satin-nickel-bathroom-light/P1523323 There are some out there and I am happy to help if you give me details on what you are looking for. I went through this search earlier this year and spent weeks looking. We have a surface mounted medicine cabinet by Bertch that sticks out only about 4 inches. There might be other medicine cabinets. Ikea vanity looks really nice. Thanks for sharing. We looked at vanities from Wayfair, AllModern, Ikea, etc., but opted to work with a local woodworker. It felt good to support a neighborhood artisan. When we come up for air we'll have him craft built-ins and purchased add'l Walnut with that in mind. At this point the Brio valves are roughed in for the shower and wall mount lav faucet so there's no turning back. To clarify, my question is when pairing an undermount sink with a wall mounted faucet and 24x20 countertop for use in a master bath - what's the most functional shape or is there no discernible difference?

how is it overkill, the makeup area is where you want the best light, pendant light will not do that. it will create glare in the mirror for one, and also that style of light bulb will add all sorts of "color" back into your skin. I would use a back lit LED mirror here and an overhead recessed light.

There is a limited supply of gold fixtures still this year..but the one above is affordable. I just share this photo so you can see about placement of them, and also, there is such a thing as gold metallic spray paint....or just gold spray paint. So if you find a style you like better...you may paint the base? or change the globes out potentially? if you wish. With the wide variety of lighting bulbs today, you may want to research which one is recommended for makeup, etc...unless you have a makeup mirror you like to use? It will be a very nice room, you are creating to enjoy!
