big deal in NYC. Home late from work midnight, I came up with a quickie. The 'Bloody Butcher'. Contest at work. I'm such a bah-humbug usually....have a roll of butcher paper and made a chef hat even lined the edge with a strip of cotton drop cloth for comfort, staples. Found a white thrift store tuxedo shirt in our closet, and made a quickie floor length apron from an old drop cloth. I planned on making pizza anyway...
I may win the prize. Eye liner for a curly mustache.
Making fresh pizza just might be the ticket...

Comments (14)The best costume I ever had was last October for FSD's carnival, I was Marie Antoinette's head on a plate. All it cost was a wig, a plastic serving tray (looked like silver) and a plastic tablecloth. First we cut out one side of a large box we had, leaving 5 sides in tact; then we cut out a horseshoe shape in the top of the box and glued the tablecloth around it and slightly over it; then we cut a horseshoe shape out of the plate and glued it to the top of the box. I put TONS of makeup over my white grease makeup so I looked very made-up, but had a bluish-grayish tint to my skin, painted a mole above my lip and put on the wig I had bought (from a Marie Antoinette costume set). I sat a stool inside the box and placed my head all the way in the circular part of the plate and box. FDH put a feather boa around my neck so no one could see where my neck met the plate. It was so hillarious! I'd close my eyes and the girls would come all the way up and start poking me in the face to see if I was real. I would open my eyes and they would almost pee their pants! I even scared most of the adults! The best thing about it is that it wasn't gory at all. No blood. Very tasteful. Comments (14)Our DGD was Yoda to her big brother's Jedi Knight last year. She tells me she'll be a bee this year; don't know about DGS's costume. She is 3 1/2, and he is 9 1/2. They trick-or-treat in their other grandmother's neighborhood in the city, where she goes through mounds of candy every year. Houses in our area are not close together, and there are civic celebrations. We stay dark now. None of our nearby neighbors have little kids at home any more. Comments (28)A few years ago a friend of mine and her husband had a very unique couples costume. He wore a black and white stripes shirt and black pants as a football ref and she wore a yellow sheet. He would blow his whistle and she would fling herself to the ground. She of course was his yellow flag on the play. It was hilarious. She was very dramatic on the flinging herself. I too saw someone go as dinner for 2, he had a cardboard "table" around his waist, table cloth, table set with dishes for 2 and wine glasses. He wore the waiters outfit and was serving a bottle of wine. He won the contest. He really did an excellent job on the whole setup.
