Giraffe's Knees at it again

The Giraffe's Knees, Gonotopus boivinii, have come out of their dry season slumber and are flowering like crazy. It's not hard to understand how they spread themselves around so quickly when you see all the pollen they produce (in first photo). Pollinators can't miss getting loaded up as they move between plants. They're on the verge of being a weed (an attractive weed) but they're easily removed.

Thank you for the compliment, Rick. I felt the need to find the perfect pot for all 3 plants before I could pot them, if that makes any sense at all. I am looking forward to seeing them respond with new growth. Next weekend I will be repotting some of my 16 week old A. obesum and A. arabicum seedlings. Some of the multiple plants that we found in Florida gave me a couple of ideas with the repots. I would like to try potting up some juveniles together and train them to form unique duos and trios. If I use 3 different cultivars then come blooming time, if I am lucky there will be 3 different types of flowers on them too. Just an idea...perhaps it will be good material to start a new thread. It is interesting that Jewel is not a very complete double, but the cross with a single resulted in a very full doubles. Did you get any seedlings with single flowers?

"I got my info from Wild Earth and Nat Geo Wild about lowering their heads for only 30 seconds." Two television shows. Can you cite which episodes? I have April's live feed in a window in the lower right corner of my monitor, and I have another window open that I'm using for genealogy research and researching info on whether or not a giraffe can bend over for longer than 30 seconds. Nowhere have I found any statements to support that. In fact, everything I have seen tonight supports my statement that giraffes have "a specially developed vascular system that prevents them from getting dizzy when they stand upright after having been bent down." Do a Google search, and if you find a reputable site that supports your statement, please post it. I can and will admit when/if I am wrong, but everything I've seen says that I am not wrong. I got the original as a weed in the pot of another plant. I didn't want the other plant, just the Giraffe's Knees. Still got both plants, only one small clump of the "sold " plant, and Giraffe's Knees are all through some of my gardens. The other "sold" plant looks like a variety of Zamioculcas zamiifolia, (ZZ Plant). It's interesting that the Giraffe's Knees, Gonotopus boivinii, used to be Zamioculcas boivinii.

We don't have Haloween here, but I won't tell them you said they're weird looking. Don't want to upset them ;).
