How can make better use of my living room?
Comments (5)I'd start by looking at the whole house and how you use each room. Then I'd look at what you want to do in your house and how easy/difficult it is to do each activity. It sounds to me as though you have done a lot of work to make the house work for you--you now have a combined gathering space and kitchen, you've made the den into a dining room. What else do you need? If you have small children, the living room could become a playroom. Or homework room. Or hangout for teenagers--their own space, but close enough to kitchen and other places the adults are for some supervision. Do you need a quiet, grown-up space away from the kids? This room could become your own personal retreat from the rest of the family. You could set it up so that you can invite friends over for a cup of tea there, or a game night. The living room could also become a library, if you have a lot of books. Add in bookshelves, a desk and comfy reading chairs. Or it could become rehearsal space for your rock band. Or a hobby and craft space, if you like to quilt or sew or paint or whatever. Or take all the furniture out and make it a yoga studio. Don't think of it as a living room. Think of it as a space where you can do whatever you want to do. This post was edited by camlan on Mon, Mar 3, 14 at 9:04...See MoreToo blah?! How can I make this better?
Comments (5)I like the 12 x 24 tile in the first photo as your flooring (could maybe be slightly darker). I think what your missing in this bathroom is warmth, so I would introduce a wood grain on your vanity, scratch the granite looking Greenstone counter top and go for an all white counter in Greenstone or a slab of marble (you could probably find a remnant for the size of your counter) to bring in some warmth. I'd lose the tile accent (IMO tile accent strips are dated) and go with a plain white subway tile or Carrara for the bath and the shower (on the larger size - 6 x 12 is a nice contrast to 12 x 24 flooring tile - usually its a 12 x 12 cut in half and most masons will do this no problem). Nice size bathroom - good luck :)...See MoreHow can I warm up My Living Room
Comments (6)The problem in your room is the terrible quality of like from that fan light. Turn it off and NEVER TURN IN ON AGAIN. I would take advantage of the lamps you have on your mantel and the piano. See if there is space for a small floor lamp next to the leather chair in the corner. Consider fishing the electrical cord under the rug to activate small floor lamps that can be placed next to your sofa. This floor lamp slides under the edge of seating to be very minimal in the room. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/clare-antiqued-bronze-floor-lamp/s406236 Replace the fan with a ceiling fixture. Comments (1)I can offer a suggestion for the paint color with natural light coming from the West...it is a white, B.M. Patriotic White withe strong blue undertones which will fight the often hot, yellow afternoon light....See Moresara k
