Can the sofa on kitchen wall go in front of the window so the sofa arrangement is more cohesive?

Not sure what purpose rug in center of the room serves

Form an L with the 2 couches on the 2 longest walls with the table between them in the corner. The legs of both should be on the rug. Move the tv to the shorter wall. This should provide a shorter walkway between the 2 doors. Place a small table or cabinet inside the entry door to drop things when you come in with a mirror over it to make last minute checks as you walk out the door.

Cheryl do you mean put one of the sofas infront of the window, and then put the tv in wall next to folding doors? Sorry I’m absolutely rubbish at design

You could scoot both sofas into the corners and that would help to open up the passage. But, what is that in the corner to the side of the window? Are those stairs? And, that low cabinet under the TV looks like a knee knocker. You really do have obstacles in the one and only pathway through that room. They are easy to step around, but on a constant basis they can be supremely annoying. The easiest and most immediate thing to do is to scoot that one sofa into the corner as much as possible in order to open up that passageway.

Moving the TV to another wall is problematic for so many of us since the cable wires that most of us still have are not that easy to relocate.

It is not a perfect and there is only so much rearrangement that you can do. It is what it is.

In a more perfect sense, I would get rid of the carpet that is going to have a path worn into it, since that is the only access. And, I would get rid of one of the sofas and that low cabinet. But, that is probably not what is practical for you to do.

To the left of the window is the door to the hallway where the stairs are.

Maybe a smaller sofa, or corner one would be better suited. These sofas are so big it’s hard to push them together without blocking one of the doors

Yes I did mean one couch under the window but since you posted the new pictures with the heat register there it probably won't work.i had a house that the arrangement I liked the best covered the register so I had it that way in the summer when I didn't need heat and change it in winter to leave them open. Don't know if that would work for you. I think that arrangement would make it feel bigger.

Thanks for posting pictures. To get the best solutions they really help. I don't think the small rug does anything for the room so I would remove it. If you can change the arrangement and put the tv on the wall where the mirror is I would look for a taller longer console, I think the tv is a little low now.

The sofas there are far too “poofy” (marshmallow sofas, we call them) and thus too bulky for the space. If you need that much seating I’d do a sectional (with a trimmer back and slimmer arms) along the “north” and “west” walls (let’s call the wall at the top, with the window, North). Make the at least the north wing of the sectional smaller, more loveseat size (maybe both wings—again, not knowing how much seating you need). Perhaps a small occasional chair in the southeast corner, if there’s room. And whatever you do, a far bigger area rug. All of the furniture should sit on it (at least front legs plus one foot).
