Comments (9)Hey Amberleys! You have a really lovely open space, if this was my own home I would move the sofa so that it partitions the dining room and living area, facing the french doors so that you can relax while admiring your garden. You can then place an entertainment unit or large sideboard against the wall where your sofa currently is, you can get some really pretty ones which you can place your CD's into and stereo on top. An old farmhouse display would look lovely - depends all on what kind of style you like. I would then place the playpen in the corner where your stereo is at the moment when not in use and a storage unit for toys against the same wall - Ikea have some really great units for toy storage. I hope your able to find a furniture piece that suits you soon so you can have a lovely place to relax! - Jessica P.S I have added a few ideas below: [Wooden Industrial Sideboard[(https://www.houzz.com/products/delta-industrial-4-door-sideboard-with-lower-shelf-prvw-vr~119406508?lid=89713568) [Wooden Storage Bench[(https://www.houzz.com/products/natural-piper-3-drawer-3-basket-bench-cabinet-prvw-vr~119406640?lid=89713694) [Miami Beach Mirrored Sideboard[(https://www.houzz.com/products/miami-beach-mirrored-sideboard-prvw-vr~119406212?lid=89713288) [Harvey Grey Sideboard[(https://www.houzz.com/products/harvey-grey-3-drawer-sideboard-prvw-vr~119338961?lid=89645588)...See MoreNeed help with an awkward living room layout
Comments (6)I'd like to just tell everyone about a website that lets you design any room you wish, down to the shape of the room, the windows, the awkward walls you may have, the size of the room, then you place furniture in the room. There are thousands of types of furniture and tons of accessories. Everything from vases to rugs to drapes to outlets. Anything you could think of, it's there. Plants, outdoor things, kitchen cabinets, you name it. It's a great tool for us non-pros who like to dabble in rearranging a room. It's called RoomStyler.com Oh - I'm not associated in any way with the website. It doesn't sell anything. It's free to use....See MoreAwkward living room/den area combo - help with colors and layout?
Comments (5)Dont worry about the divided floor, as long as you divide your functional groupings in the same way. That is, ok to use the smaller zone as your TV room, but only if all the furniture for that fits on that side of the walkway. Otherwise, put the TV on the wall to the right of the fireplace, and set up your seating arrangement in an L to encompass both (and maybe an extra chair or two for visitors). Then the "den" makes a natural office, etc., and you have plenty of seating in the larger space for hanging out or conversation....See MoreHelp with awkward living room layout
Comments (5)I've been managing vacation rental properties for 18 years, so first, I'd want to know the maximum number of guests you can sleep here. For starters, in the "day room," do you think people can see the lake itself if they're seated there in regular chairs? If not, you may want to consider a bistro table and chairs at one end to give people more of a perch. At the other end build in an "L" shaped bench that is high enough to afford sight of the water when one sits there. Add a custom table with it for a spot to set down drinks or to play a game of checkers. In the main room, place TV on one of the walls left of the FP. There would probably be less glare if it were immediately left of the FP and not opposite the windows. Seating will depend on the number of guests who may want to sit together to watch a game, etc., so the numbers will help determine what you should do about seating....See Moreacm
