Friend and I shared lunch, today, at Mexican Train. I made sausage balls and friend brought homemade sausage and chicken gumbo. He's from Louisiana so you know it had a "kick".

I fixed myself a small sirloin steak and a baked potato for lunch. I also had a mini toffee crunch ice cream bar for a snack.

I am about to have a huge bowl of borscht I made. Will serve it over boiled potatoes and topped with extra sour cream.

Chili. I am so tired of chili. SO wants it every year when the weather first turns a little cooler outside. This is the 3rd day in a row he wanted chili. The upside is that when he gets his fill of it,he usually won't want it again until the next year.

I did get stuff to make calzones. I have to work a rare day shift tommorow and can't promise that I will be happy to cook them when I get home, but I might be if it means not eating a 4th bowl of chili this week.

We will be having bbq country style ribs, sauteed yellow squash and a rice with veggies mix.

I had one of my favorite meals today - a kind of stew with chicken, onion, tomatoes and green pepper. Ate it with broccoli and a sourdough cheese twist. I bought the cheese twist at an indoor market held once every two weeks where people bring all sorts of food and craft products. I also bought a cinnamon bun, butter tarts and a small pie for the freezer.

I tried a new recipe....Chicken Abodo. DH thought it was very tasty. I thought it was just okay. Would not make again. I rarely do crock pot recipes so thought I would try it.

Angel hair pasta with TJ's turkey bolognese sauce. I made a pumpkin bread that we will have later.

I just asked my brother to pick me up a maki sushi tray and something for dessert. I rarely cook on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday so I either eat leftovers, a sandwich or pick up something.

Leftover lasagna with a green salad, but not for a couple of hours yet. It's only 4:40 here and we usually eat around 7:00.

I had a turkey wrap at Cabin Creek Coffee. Almost didn't stop there but it was getting late . So glad I did as I ran into my niece and we had a good visit over delicious coffee!

Guacamole. I used 4 avocados and my family demolished it. We also had sandwiches.

We had chili as well. It's cold and rainy here in central OK. Definitely Chili weather.

Sprt, I make one very similar. Smoked hocks are salty so I omit the salt.

Attended the musical Aladdin at Ohio Theater followed by happy hour and dinner at Happy Greek, Short North. A wonderful musical. Delicious Chicken Shawarma dinner, and avoided rush hour.

sprt, my ham/bean soup is quite similar. I use a couple of bay leaves and a pinch of two of herbs de provence in place of the thyme. Cubed leftover ham if I don't have a ham bone. I made some last week, big pot, and sent some to my SIL and her husband who were both suffering from colds. For that batch I used flageolet beans, soaked overnight in the refrigerator.

I just got home from a hair appointment, late because my stylist squeezed me in after I completely forgot the date and stood her up on Tuesday. I was out of town, and appreciate how accommodating she was helping me out when the missed appointment was entirely my fault.

A friend was here with a fresh halibut when I drove in. DH put potatoes on the grill, fish will go on in about 35 minutes. I'll see if I have salad fixings for a simple green salad.

We went out to eat....had chili rellenos. We each brought some home. I just heated mine up and ate it. Jody has gone to check the boat, and I imagine he will eat his when he gets home after awhile.

Had a California roll and miso soup for breakfast (around 1:00 pm), then had lunch/dinner at World of Beer: not very good pork schnitzel and mashed potatoes with kale salad. The pork was dry, brought it home for the dogs, ate a little of the mashed potatoes, which were the best part of the meal and brought the rest home. The kale was left on the plate. Spent the day with my daughter, went to eat lunch and watch a movie: Halloween. The sound wasn't working at the theater so we got free passes for another movie later and went to the big city to watch Halloween. Then went shopping and ate again. My daughter left her sushi at my house by mistake so I get to finish that off for her. ( :

My bean soup is much like the others here. I omit the wine, no extra salt and add a bay leaf. We call this Senate bean soup as it is served every day at the U.S Senate.

Brushworks, the European Market is one of my favourite places to go for everything food. Love the hot food, I don't know what it is called but the hot saurkraut cabbage dish, the sausages, soup, chicken. Wonderful deli and bakery counter, the fresh rolls and breads and all the interesting items on the shelves I like to try out. Bad me but I always buy a super fresh custard paczki located right next to the hot food.

Cherry, we picked up lunch there on Saturday before Thanksgiving. One of my favorites is chicken livers with onions, plus all the other items you mention. I think the sauerkraut stew is Bigos.

Favorite bread: Sauerkraut Rye bread. Warm, moist and delicious.

Favorite pierogie: Cabbage and mushroom.

Keep in mind, if you go there closer to closing, all the hot food offerings are 1/2 off. :)

i can't find those beans, so i am going to use white cannellini beans. i have one place to try and find them, if not just going with the cannellini's. thanks for the tips about the salt & bay leaf !! will omit and add :)

Our main meal yesterday was smoked sausage and sauerkraut sandwiches. On the side we had carrot sticks, celery sticks and pickled beets. A small dish of applesauce for dessert. Later I had a lemon Tootsie Pop. Guess what I will be giving out to trick or treaters. (if there is any left)

Had to look upMexican Train. Never played domino games! Kathsgdn....I live in the DMV, we must be “neighbors”. I haven’t been to World of Beer though.

Anne, you can learn how to play Mexican Train in about 22 nano seconds. It's fun to play........we play for a penny a dot and add up after each round.

Last night we had Mexican potatoes. Nothing more than a taco but instead of a tortilla, the filling is served on top of a baked potato. DH doesn't like eating tacos because they're too messy.

How many do you have to have to play? The family only like poker but dh and I like games and could get friends if needed

Been playing train weekly at my place for years. Most weeks we have 7. Have a room that stays setup to play. We each put in $1 per game. Fun!

My son came home from college this weekend. He was starving so we dropped by a Japanese place so he could get sushi. We had Malaysian yesterday because we were watching a competition and I didn't have time to cook. First time I had tried that type of food. We had our waiter help us choose and I have no idea of the name or spices. We had an appetizer with some type of fried flat bread and a curry type of dipping sauce. I had a beef basil dish with rice. My husband had something with chicken and my son had some form of noodles. It was all good.

You can play with four. We have six players in each group I play in. We have played with eight or nine at the club, but most of us like five the best. It leaves room at end of dining room table for snacks. :-)))) I have friends that play couples. I can't imagine men liking it because it's a little slow depending on players, but lots of men do. One of my groups plays pretty fast and we talk a lot. The other group is maddeningly slow. We put 10 cents a round in a bowl. That's $1.30 per person. The winner of each round gets 50 - 60 cents depending on # players, from the pot + a penny per dot on each tile losers get stuck with.
