oh boy... a cat happened to me tonight!
Comments (47)I certainly don't think I've stolen the cat. There are always posters of lost/found pets at the mailboxes, so I posted them on all the mail centers and in the stairwells of the apartments with e-mail address and phone number. If the people cared about the cat they could have put a collar with a tag on him instead of the crusty flea collar that I found him in. Jasper's vet is just down the street from the complex, so I will go there to see if anyone reported a lost cat. I've been waiting to have him vaccinated and neutered to see if anyone claims him yet, but I have an appointment for Monday at the low cost animal care shelter to get that taken care of. If I spend money on that and then someone claims him, they will have to reimburse me for the expense. They should have done it in the first place. I don't feel like a hero or a theif. If someone calls with an accurate description of the cat and pays me for the medical expense they can have it back. Until or unless that happens, I am going to be a good steward with the life that has been (even if temmporarily) entrusted to me by happenstance or the great Universe or whatever you believe in and enjoy every second of it. Maybe there are people on this forum who would rather me turn the cat back onto the streets so he can get run over by cars or eaten by predators in hopes that he will wander back to his original "owners". I placed an add on Craigs List. I've gotten 3 offers for Viagra and one offer to make a million dollars a month to work at home from a textile shop based in the UK. Then the add was flagged. There is a point at which you have to draw the line. Maybe I should quit my job and just knock on every door in the state until someone says the lost the cat I have found. Then I will be able to sleep at night since I'm such a horrible person! Some people!...See MoreCat fighting question
Comments (23)Oklahomarose, thanks for the suggestion. I guess I can say I'm doing something "sort of similar." Rocky spends his nights in my downstairs bathroom. He doesn't seem to mind at all....he goes in readily, and doesn't make a sound until he hears me stirring upstairs in the morning. He is in and out throughout the day. The other cats are confined to the upstairs and attic when he's in the house; when he's out, the downstairs is open to them as well. Rocky seems perfectly happy with this arragement, the other cats less so, and me not very much. I don't like that the other cats seem on edge much of the time, nor that one or more of them (I know it's not Rocky) keeps marking their territory--in the living room and dining room. And although I try to give each of them one-on-one attention, I worry that it's not enough. Some of the cats' nervousness may be a reflection of my own. I was thoroughly spooked by the fight and my injury. The sutures are out, BTW, but the hand doctor predicts the nerve damage will take about six months to heal. I also worry about Rocky outside. He hasn't fought with Bonesy or run her off; in fact, there's been no negative interaction with any other outside. But unfortunately, thanks to an infuriatingly negligent neighbor, plenty of other strays have been coming around, including a tomcat that mated with a small female. Rocky lets this female have his food on the porch, and I was nervous when the tom showed up and loudly declared his intentions. I need to talk to the neighbor, but I know from past experience she'll deny any knowledge of the other cats, which now number six. I'm not sure what I'll do next. A friend recommended Bach Flower Remedies for pets, and I may try this with Rocky and Annie. I still see Annie as the root of the problem, and Rocky's good behavior with the outside cats has reinforced this. A close friend's adult son is thinking about getting a cat. He had one for many years, and the whole family are cat lovers. It would be a good home for Rocky. And painful for me to contemplate. Rocky is such a great cat, and he and I are so bonded. If my friend's son and his wife agree to take him, I'll have to deal with it. If they don't, I'll have to deal with it....See MoreStrange scent after cat fight this evening
Comments (4)How much north are you in northern california? The only think I can think of is a bear. They have a distinctive odor which is horrible, other than that she might have tangled with a raccoon (most likely) who might have just been in someones garbage....See MoreHelp with a Puppy Problem & a Cat being BAD!
Comments (21)Again, thank you all for your kind words. Just a bit of love in times like this means the world to us. One problem that either of them don't have is not enough love and attention. My mom and dad give both of them sooo much attention and love its not even funny!! Seehr and Daisy have actually been playing together!! They have been so cute lately. Last night I went over there with my two dogs (Star-Lite my adult & Deuce my puppy) and they just played like crazy!! Seehr was right in the middle of the two puppies!!! I couldn't believe it, but my mom said that Seehr and Daisy play like that all the time! :-) It was sooo cute!! My husband and I started training Deuce (our pup) to sit and take treats easy the other day, and I decieded to try it with Daisy. Within 10 minutes she had it down!! My mom and I were SOOO proud of her. My mom thought she might be too little still because she is only about 4-5 pounds, but I told her that Daisy is the same ago as Deuce (7 weeks tomorrow) and she could do it. Mom was so excited that she started working with her with more stuff like that also. :-) Daisy is a blessing to my mom because of the void that she is filling missing my brother (her son). grrrr....Deuce is sitting in the other room right now just crying his head off. Does anybody know what I should do about that?? He has been outside, ate, has toys, but should I just ignore him?? Its so hard to do that because I just want to go in there and see what he wants!! I just want to make him better, but then on the other hand I know that if I do that, everytime he wants something he will just cry instead of him coming and telling me. RIGHT?? Ohhhh... he just stopped! ... ... ... I just went and looked in there and he is sleeping on his blanket in the living room! Its so funny, Star-Lite just looks at him like "Knock it off Deuce" when he starts crying. lol Its so cute! Anyways, I've talked enough about my babies. lol Please keep in touch everybody and I'll do the same. Elycia...See Morelindavarga20
