This is the wall I have trouble with. Old picture, but only one I could find showing the whole wall. The ceiling is angled and then flattens over the fireplace. There are two beams, one on each side of the flat part. I like your room oakleyoak. It looks great even without furniture! I hate to admit this, but after climbing up & down a scaffold, scraping that horrible popcorn stuff off the ceiling, and priming, I decided to paint the ceiling white so I would never have to do it again. Now if I want to paint the walls (and I do), I don't have to get another scaffold for the ceiling.

Ladies, the wall is built, the plumbing is being run, the electrical is in and there was no other way to lay out the room that I could afford. I had originally wanted to add-on but that would have added $15k minimum to the cost, so it wasn't in the cards for me. I'm trying to finish my home renos before I retire in September - December at the latest - and been working on them for 2 years now. Weeping tile, eaves troughs, new porches and new exterior doors, some window replacements are complete. This, plus replacing the siding / insulation / weather wrap and a couple more windows to replace or add-on to the south side of the house still remain. This house hadn't had any improvements the past 30 years so i got it cheap and I've been saving since I moved here to do them... I'll be broke and living on social security and a pension, but my house will be in good shape and I'll be able to pass it on to my kids, or sell it if I wind up in a rest home. This is a photo of my backyard, facing west... yeah, I want to keep the view. I'm thinking to go with the idea of 3 windows evenly placed across the wall, no longer trying to lay anything out in line with the vaulted ceiling. Thank you so much for your input!

There is much more info required to make a good decision than what is presented here. So your FP is existing, and you've removed all of a flat stick-built ceiling? There are some critical structural things associated with doing that. Is this ridge and rafters going to be just faux, or are you using existing? Having a vault be "asymmetrical" (differing slopes on each side) may not be problematic design-wise here, because the vault is not too steep or tall and the adjacent room is a shed vault. Other things like the openings and windows (which I see none) play into noticing an asymmetrical vault being out-of-place. Don't forget the added cost and whether you can even hang a false ceiling to offset the ridge location. You should have your architect involved with this. Edited after reading your edited post: Not sure about the kitchen cabinets/appliance shifting, but you should have the correct info (ref is different location in plan and elevation) and where you are at in ordering cabinets to get good advice.

You could paint the walls at full strength and go 25-50% saturation of the same color on the ceiling so it feels cohesive. You could pick a color on the same color strip or in the same color area. Try this article The Trouble With A North-Facing Room it lists your paint choice as an option. I think it's more modern to go with the same color and you could make it work with the high ceilings to alleviate the feeling of a cave. Have fun please - no white ceilings :)
