Puzzled about HGTV's "Love It or List It" show

Watching this show is a guilty pleasure for me, I admit it. But what drives me crazy? Hilary never seems to use any of the homeowners' own furniture, art or decorative items -- everything in the reveal has been brought in and is in Hilary's taste. Query: does she count these new furnishings into the "budget", or are they simply for staging purposes (unless the owners decide to purchase them, I believe)?? Why doesn't she re-use the original furniture at all?

I find Hilary's personal taste can be excessively pointed, and so often contrary to what the homeowners had originally, that it seems contrived. Not that I dislike her type of decor -- sometimes I wish mine were more like hers, but I definitely wouldn't want to do away with all my personal/family-inherited stuff. Do those on the show that end up "loving it" keep the new decor, or trade back to their own things, I wonder...
