cutting got knocked out of pot - any point in re-cutting it?

Hello!

So, I had a cutting from a Dracaena that had begun to root itself in water (where I kept it several days while I got organized). It just had those little nubs, no actual roots then. I cut it in half and stuck them in separate pots (somewhat probably out of greed, but also to double my chances of actually ending up with a plant).

Then, I had to go away, and some silly person knocked the top-half cutting out of its pot, the part with leaves. When I first stuck it, it had had that nice glowy green look of a happy plant. Now, it was a bit wilted and considerably less happy/glowing. It was probably out a couple days, I am sorry to say. I just put it back in and crossed my fingers.

However, I thought about re-cutting it and putting it back in water until it looked happy again, and then re-sticking it in soil. Would this make sense? Should I do that? The whole point of a cutting is that it needs to grow roots, so is trying to perk it up in water first a waste of time?

All suggestions/thoughts welcome.
