Word to the wise: don't even check Rejuvenation. They will tempt you with a huge selection of classy looking fixtures at prices that are significant but not out of reach. But it's junk: made in China, light-weight metal that doesn't hold up, and bad innards. The company was built on quality and has completely changed in the last year.

I have kitchen shelves on either side of the cooktop, but the supports are internal so the shelves themselves appear to float. There is a very flat xenon light strip in front that is not visible because of the design. When the wall was open the brackets (angle iron?) were attached to the studs. THe cabinet maker met with the contracter as the brackets were going in to make sure everything would go smoothly. The shelves were then attached to the brackets and a thin wood skin applied to the underside of the shelf so the bracket is not visible at; the shelves appear to float. Using the invisible brackets attached to the studs allows me to put a fair weight of dishes on the shelf.

Sadly my husband nixed this design. He rarely voices opposition so I was quite surprised. His reasoning is that all the other door knobs in the hallway are that Baldwin oval egg shape in brass and he thinks this will clash. I don't agree but I will give this one to him as it happens so seldom. So I'll be getting that Baldwin oval knob in chrome. He liked that idea. Next project where I need a door knob I'm definitely going with this one!

It is a desk which may have been brought home from Asia after WWII. It has what appears to be braided stick rattan legs as well as the foot rest/brace at the bottom and the sides with a dark mahogany top. I have searched for hours for anything like it in the USA and Asia and Japan, but there's nothing out there. I sure would like to find some history about it. I believe my great uncle brought to the states to give to his parents, my great-grandparents, all long deceased.
