i need some help designing my living room. we have huge windows next to entry way which brings in lot of light and it’s a little far from the fireplace. If I put my sectional right in front of the fireplace im losing all that space from the windows to the sectional. I really would like that view from the windows but I’m in a dilemma as to what will work. I like it to be more spacious and modern. Any furniture and layout advice with links will be greatly appreciated.
I can send you pictures if anyone is interested. Thanks much for your advise :)

You can just add some styrofoam blocks behind a large piece of art (one that fills the niche) to move the art piece forward a bit, so it doesn't look like it's in a hole. You could stick them to the wall and hang the picture from hooks in the top of the niche instead of from the back.

Posting mostly to see at right the 2 windows with table / chairs [yours could be bigger]. Flip the white sofa and upholstered chairs... sort of: The conversation arc: place furniture so that people can easily hear one another. 8 feet (244 cm) is ideal; larger rooms may need to be broken into seating groups. Circulation paths need 30 - 36" (77-91 cm) of clear width. You can place coffee or cocktail tables as close as 12" (30 cm) from the edge of the seating. Other furnishings might need at least 24" (61 cm) between pieces for people to easily move about.

You have a beautiful room with lots of potential. Depending on your budget, if possible to remove the carpet and replace with a nice wide plank wood floor. You have the option to paint the beams to match an accent colour (grey or taupe would be nice) or leave them white. Your fireplace surround looks a little odd so I would build a new mantle (see below). Cannot suggest any furniture layout without a floor plan with dimensions.

No more gray in a large quantity. And, no that sectional does not belong in your house, color wise, size wise and style wise. Lovely room. Is there a fireplace? Will t v be in this room? FYI, the reviews of Value City are not good. What color rug do you suggest? I have light gray walls.

And also i'm not sure about the color of the furniture. I'm looking for a more modern look and light weight furniture and want to have more space for kids to play.

Also i'm thinking of getting Cellular shades for now and later install curtains.

Does light gray or Darker gray do well with this layout?

Any furniture ideas and rug ideas i would really appreciate :)

I have a brown leather sectional but I’m open to buying a new one along with a matching rug. Just looking for some ideas

Wow what a great space. I would start with the rug. probably get a 9x12 or larger. Without any information on your taste suggestions would just be a shot in the dark. I often suggest rugs from Horchow.com. If there is to be a TV in the space I would place it on a console to the left of the FP. Over the FP looks to high for comfortable viewing.

Does it have to be a sectional? Since you have so much space maybe consider twin couches? I find mine to be more versatile and they don't close off traffic like a sectional can.

Are you open to building out the fireplace? You could build out the left side for your tv and be closer to the window.

Definitely put art over the fireplace instead of a tv. Currently, the windows look like eyes and the fireplace, the mouth. A tv might finish off the "face" w a nose. :)

You need a large area rug (10' x 13' maybe). Esalerugs.com is having a 60% off sale. They offer free shipping and free returns. Ends today, though. May be too quick for a decision.

I don't see a problem. Those realtor's photos distort the space, so it probably isn't as big as it looks. But a sectional could be placed with the two legs facing the windows and the fireplace, a couple of chairs could face the sectional with their backs to the windows. TV on a console to the left of the fireplace.

Move your current furniture in and see how it works. It will give you a better idea of what you want to replace and what sizes you need.
