can i mix black and brown when decorating bedroom?
Comments (9)Brown is not neutral - it has a hue, which is orange, although the intensity is so low that it is barely noticeable, but you can still put it on a color wheel, unlike black. Brown and blue are therefore complementary colors, being opposite each other on the color wheel. Barbara Barry says that curtains should match or blend into the wall color, and so maybe you can use those curtains in another room and get curtains that blend in with the walls rather than contrast so much. You certainly would not want to paint your walls brown to match the curtains, although you could paint them to match the cream colored flowers, if you love the curtains that much. BTW, I do not follow BB's rule when decorating myself, and my bedroom curtains are coordinated with the paintings and art in the room instead of the walls. If you get rid of the blue in the room, you can keep the whole color scheme in the brown to cream range, which will make adding contrast much easier. For me, blue is too much of a contrast, although personally I much prefer blue to brown. BTW, there definitely are Official Rules to Acceptable Color Combos (as I was taught in design school), but that doesn't mean that you have to follow them. They are silly rules anyway. However, since black is not on the color wheel (and neither is white), you can add black (and/or white) to any color scheme. Black, white, and gray (and clear, if you want to consider that) are the only true neutrals - all other colors have hues....See MoreNeed help with bedroom decorating
Comments (16)It's an exceptionally unique bedroom. Since there's so much wood and the carpet seems to be brown as well, I'd go with a nice light color for your bedding. Light blue does go beautifully with brown. I have always found that getting my bedding first was the way to go. Then I pull a color or two from there for window treatments, art, pillows, wall color, etc. You need to lighten it up. You said your husband wants to stay away from yellow, but I just saw a beautiful bedding set that has light blue and yellow on a white background from which you could pull out the blues and it would be light and cheerful....See MoreHELP! Comments (58)delilah66 it's actually a monitor stand I constructed out of a speaker stand haha. Although my monitor is fairly big for a computer monitor (29'') it's actually very slim and light so thats why the stand can hold it I think. I does wobble a little only if u bump it. Otherwise for me it is fine. Yea I wanted to get this project done ASAP so I can get back to studying : )...See MoreHow to Decorate Around This Guest Bedroom Wallpaper
