What mix are you old LB users using and what type of oil?
Comments (42)Walt, what on God's green earth is that thing? As far as oil ratios, everybody should use what they feel is the best. I personally don't like the idea of running a high mix oil at 100:1 when the folks who built my orphaned 2-stroke recommend 32:1. Now I know some of you guys use these synthetics with good results. It's just not for me. Additive packages and whatever else, I prefer to follow engine manufacturer's recommendations and use LB oil. I actually run mine with a little extra oil to be on the safe side, just in case. However, this is what I do because it works for me. I'll always suggest going with spec or richer, but if something else works for another person that's fine too. When you ask people for their opinions on this forum, that's exactly what you will get. Silly thing to argue about really....See MoreDo 'User@gardenweb.com' emails only go to this site?
Comments (13)I have no idea where emails to 'gardenweb_user@gardenweb.com' go, but when you get an email like that from someone, it is because they have chosen a particular setting in their profile that prevents their address from being visible. Any email sent from GW, from that member, will have that 'cannot reply' bit. Even emails that are a result of ticking the 'click here if you would like copies' box will be 'cannot reply' kind of messsages. You can't do anything about that. You have to ask them to send an email from their mail program (not from GW) to be able to reply to them. You can still sort of email them back though - you just have to go about it the long way. The GW name of the person that sent it should still be visable before the gardenweb_user bit. You can either find a GW post by them and click on their "my page" link and send them an email from there, or you can do a search for the GW member on the 'Member search' page (click on 'Member Pages' in the 'community' section at the very bottom of the main GW page). BP...See MoreInduction users - do you ever need or want a radiant burner?
Comments (31)I used induction for over a year (Miele 36" cooktop). I moved to Seattle and the home I am renting (and leaving) has a Kitchen Aid 6 burner gas cooktop. I hate it. I cannot get a true simmer and had to buy an induction hob. No one should be using a round wok to stir fry, so that is not an issue. Check America's Test Kitchen results on using a wok. For me gas totally sucked. It takes forever to boil water - over 10 minutes compared to On gas, I have two size "burners". Smaller flame or wider flame. You have to put it on high to cover your pan for even heating then everything burns, so you have to keep it small. On induction, you just match the pan to the ring size and everything is perfect - very low simmer to fast boiling. Induction also conducts up the sides of the pot and the handles don't get hot. I have to use a pot holder just to stir food with gas. Making Bernaise without a double boiler is a snap. Plus the sauce thickens better getting heat from the sides at the same temperature as the bottom. Maybe other gas ranges are better, compared to this crappy Kitchen Aid (the DW, Wall Ovens, & Fridge also suck). Renting new home in a couple months....See MoreMac users - Can you help me post bigger pictures?
Comments (11)I found this on a forum - it was in response to someone asking to make a photo very large and square, so ignore the references to that. You can experiment and see if you can upload the larger image to photobucket. (note that I think the photo has to be in your pictures folder and not iphoto). "Mac OS X has a built-in application called Preview that is quite capable for simple edits like resizing. First, open the image in Preview (should be the default; if not, right-click the file or click the Action toolbar item (the gear icon) with the file selected and choose Open With and then Preview). Then click on the Tools menu and select Adjust Size. This will open a sheet asking for your desired resolution and dimensions. Type them in, unchecking the Scale Proportionally option if necessary to get an exactly square image. Click OK, save the file (Id recommend saving it with a different name), and youre done. Please note, though, that upscaling JPG files will undoubtedly result in a loss of qualitysometimes a drastic one."...See Morelascatx
