oak hardwood floor issues/advice
Comments (4)Hi There is no chance to match/cover the area that wasnÂt exposing to the sun with out sanding the floorÂ. You can bring it close but not 100% For all the marks you have on the floor from the sofa or shoes or any mark you have The best way to get good results is to rent one of buffer machine from home depot Like this one http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100044715 Or if they have a the big machine that usually use for cleaning carpets or sand the floor And attach a soft pad for it. After you got the buffer machine take good flooring cleaner (Bona Swedish Formula Hardwood Floor Cleaner I love it) leave it on the floor for few minutes and the use the buffer machine. I believe this will resolve your problem. Jacob Here is a link that might be useful: home depot...See MoreHelp, I hate me new stained white oak hardwoods
Comments (49)Quick question. As you know, we had our floors re-stained about 6 or 7 weeks ago, they stained and did one finish coat, and then came back once the project was done to buff out any imperfections and put the final coats on. They say to wait 30 days before you put down any area rugs...I know part of this is to protect their business, but if it was just the clear coats is that still applicable? I can't go an entire month with our dogs and no rugs, and we want to move back in!! How imperative is this, the rugs will always be in the same spots with our floorpan layout, so if it affects coloring it won't matter really....thoughts?...See MoreShaw solid hardwood - quality issues like their engineered hardwood?
Comments (1)My home has had floating laminate plank flooring for nearly a decade. The finish is still flawless, and I love it. It is very easy for the care routine, just vacuum and spot clean with water....See MoreMaple or White Oak Site-Finished Hardwood Flooring for Wheelchair?
Comments (7)Though Maple is harder, it's also smoother so it's more likely show indentations and wear patterns. Wear and marking is more of an issue with wheelchairs than dents. And your contractor is correct. The finish on prefinished flooring is generally more durable than site finished though you may be somewhat limited in selection. Wood floor refinishers are likely to be familiar with refinishing prefinished flooring so I don't see that as being an issue. If one doesn't have experience, tips can be found online and hopefully we're not talking about doing that for many years.
