Water restrictions are ruining my plans! How late can I reseed?
Comments (2)It depends on the year, but most of the time you should be able to seed through october. If it is still dry, you can try dormant seeding. With that method, you wait for the start of winter (before any snow) and then put out the seed. It just sits there and works its way into the soil over winter and then starts growing in early spring. You would probably want to use tupersan as a preemergent in spring to not hurt the new grass. It isn't ideal, but it is better than waiting a whole year for the "ideal" time to come again....See MoreNeed help to re-seed my lawn, already died TWICE!
Comments (3)Well, I think that is your cue - that fact that the area that the landscaper took care of is healthy. Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's done more things differently then you have done, then just those little white balls. My understanding is that you can't seed St. Augustine, so I'm not sure how that worked for you. I would recommend talking to your landscaper to see what his recommendation is for you. If we are to help figure out why your lawn is dying, I'm thinking we will need pictures, and information about all the applications that you have done. Maybe your landscaper could tell you information such as both of the types of grass that you have, how you should fertilize, etc....See MoreHow soon can I reseed after spot treating with Roundup?
Comments (2)The label will tell you to wait a week. If you can wait that long, then wait a week. But in reality, you can reseed right away because Roundup only works through plant foliage, which seeds don't have....See MoreImpatient LOL, can I patch lawn now?
Comments (6)I just reseeded and redirted my entire yard. They say not to plant grass seed until March 15th (soil temp has to warm up) but what I've found is the grass will indeed sprout, just not as fast. And, the last few years the rain has stopped in February so I wanted to plant while Nature was still supplying that all-important moisture so I don't have to slosh thru the mud with the sprinklers. 2 cemetery groundskeepers told me that they reseed every day of the year in the PacNW and it works. Just not as optimally as March 15 which is now too hot and dry to work. Used to be folks worried about winter seed getting too wet and rotting but it just does not rain as much anymore. One thing to keep in mind: if ground is soggy, and you use heavy equipment, it can damage the structure of the soil and compact it. So go lightly if wet. I have a worm bin and compost pile where all leaves and yard debris and kitchen scraps go, happy worms = awesome wormcasting = best possible mulch/fertilizer. More experienced gardeners will weigh in ...;^D...See MoreUser
