I'm stupid. I got bit by my own dog....
Comments (65)The first one or two might have been some sort of a rescue. Loyal was from her '05 batch of puppies and she kept him. Read above in one of the posts. She's planning on letting Isis have two more litters before that dog hits RETIREMENT so she can maybe get a female puppy she can't part with to keep while the rest of the litters would be given away again. But then she might get Sagira back that could also have litters of more puppies but she won't know until February. A female puppy could keep her breeding program going since Isis will be to RETIREMENT age soon. I don't think any of her dogs are spayed or neutered. I guess with so many animals getting nuked because there aren't enough homes to go around why is anybody breeding hybrids OR making more puppies of any breed that need homes with all kinds of low cost spay-neuter programs out there? These hybrids aren't exactly great family pets and they do seem to bite and kill a lot so why do it? These hybrids don't have behavioral issues, those are their behaviors. Her own husband said she should have known better than to get close to the sharp end. HELLLLLLLLLLLLO! These aren't great pets, they even gnaw on each other....See MoreSewing drapes help
Comments (13)Laurie...you have a marvelous machine! The Featherweight is one of my favorites (if not THE favorite). They have a stitch that the new machines can't come close to achieving. Bronwynsmom...Say it isn't so! Someone stole your Featherweight? They have been red hot the last couple of years, but you can still find them on eBay. I know where there are two of them in a local antique shop. I keep telling myself I don't need another machine, but..... Justmeinsd...Good advice from the above posters! I don't think I've ever used a pattern to make a WT. If you pick up a couple of books from the library on window treatments you can get all the info you need. Singer's "Sewing for the Home" is a good series. Start on smaller projects like valances or pillows. I figure that if you make something and it doesn't turn out the way you want it to, you've only lost a few dollars and a couple of hours. Give it a try!!! I've never taken a class in my life, but do have a family full of accomplished seamstresses. My grandmother does some of the finest French hand sewing that you'll ever see and my aunt teaches classes for Bernina. My Mom designs patterns that are sold throughout the US. And then there's me. LOL Mom taught me the basics when I was really young, but it was torturous for a tomboy like me to be stuck inside sewing. I wanted nothing to do with it until DH and I bought our first house and I paid to have the first WT done. I decided right then that I could do that, so I bought a used machine and started sewing. Haven't stopped since. I now have 6 machines and the sewing room is the biggest room in the house. :o)...See MoreI'm making drapes!
Comments (15)I am making panels for my MBR right now, and I've only got one panel up, but I used the method linked to make a 'wave' heading. I really like it on the one panel that's up. I think it requires less fussing to get them to look nice when stacked to the sides, and it's really easy to get them to look nice when covering the window. This method requires at least 2x width, probably a minimum of 2.5x would be better. I did use buckram (my fabric is on the heavy side and the panels are lined). Here is a link that might be useful: wave heading instructions...See MoreI'm going to entitle my memoirs "Cats: Why We Can't Have Nice Things"
Comments (150)How I Loooooove these cat stories!! I couldn't help getting a few tears in my eyes but so many more laughs!!! At 73, I can't say I ever remember a time I didn't have at least one weaving in and out of my legs, tail up, meowing either for attention or food. A few even tried to use me as a scratching post !lol My bff in IL takes in rescues, and at the moment has 21 or 22. The 100 yo historic home she bought 9 years ago came with 2 separate garages, one housing the majority of the kitties, the other is used for storage, but she always keeps the big door open a foot at the bottom, and knows *other* critters take part in the 'vittles' also. Sthe has either 4 or 5 in the house, one being a mama cat w/7 kittens, the very start of her rescue 'mission'. She gave away 2 of those kittens(after neutering!),and never stopped regretting it. They have all found a forever home with her. Her vet/food costs are insane, and when I visited in the summer we found worms in one of the litter pans, and in a two day period, took every cat into the vet to be dewormed. That was $400. It's neverending work! Whenever I call she's scooping, feeding, or rocking one of them in the old rocking chair that was moved out to the garage. She also donates to almost every animal organization known to man, even if it's only $5. She's a one-woman rescue shelter, and I wish I were closer to help. We always say we like animals more than people because animals can't help their situatuon, but people usually can....See Morectlane
