Queen Anne Drop Leaf Table
Comments (4)I wouldn't call it orphaned.....but perhaps B...rd! LOL! It doesn't know who it's daddy is and it really doesn't matter at all!! It's a sweet little table, looks like cherry. I have a cousin in maple made by Kling according to the metal tag in the drawer, but the legs on mine are not Queen Anne..(wish they were!). Mine was new in 1959....and I still love it....handy table for supper for 2 or just as a side table. Enjoy! Linda C...See MoreDrop leaf table
Comments (10)Wow! A ceiling table -- very rare indeed, but only useful at Christmas! ;-) What you have is a gate-leg table, a form that has been around for hundreds of years, but your table is much more recent. It's really hard to tell without seeing better shots, especially of the wood, the finish, the hardware, and the underpinnings, but I would guess it is from the '30s at the earliest, and more likely the '50s. The top with leaves down is wider than the original form and it looks like it might open to allow leaves to be added. The shaping of the edges where the leaves meet the fixed top is a "modern" detail. Value depends on your local market more than anything else....See MoreDrop leaf table in foyer
Comments (52)Anew, Just checking in today. I don't get the email notices about new posts - so surprised to see this post pop up today!! I do love WT - I have used it in 2 other houses. I read where you were thinking about SB also - I have used that one, too! My sis has SB right now. ~I~ prefer WT, but really there is very little difference between the 2 colors. I thought SB was a little more washed out than WT. I think you will be happy with WT!! It does seem to be a very popular color but for good reason - it goes with alot. Good luck with your decision - & yeah, people say it is just paint but it is a hassle when your doing it!! Smiles:)...See MoreGate Leg table
Comments (14)flower girl sometimes people post at the same time or close to and other times they read the initial post and answer without reading all of the answers so they may not have seen your answer and ask what you're already replied. So don't be impatient with them. People are kind and helpful on the antiques forum. I've had a lot of helpful answers to questions about things I've posted about. Value is relative to area and what kind it is. Look on eBay and furniture is sky high -- here in Kansas not so much -- and Victorian furniture here has really taken a beating!...See Moredebodun
