rdsso I have the same armstrong tiles in my kitchen! It was difficult to put up (arms overhead a lot). We found that the edges were very delicate and anyplace there is a ding it is very noticeable. The ceilling tiles also were difficult to keep level so the ceiling looks a little wavy as if we are hiding a bad ceiling. If I had to do it over again I would opt for the larger plastic panels.

When grass clippings are piled up and emit that ammonia smell that is Nitrogen escaping to the atmosphere. Grass clippings put into a compost pile and covered with adequate amounts of carbonaceous material will "trap" that Nitrogen and the bacteria will use it to digest that carbon. Depending on how the grass clippings have been dried could affect the amount of Nitrogen they have so the brown color may not really reflect the C:N ratio of those clippings. Just as Alfalfa hay that has been sitting around awhile may turn brown and that does not indicate a loss of protein that can be as true of aged grass clippings.. If, while the clippings were laying about and emitted a strong ammonia odor they most likely do have a high C:N ratio and are now carbons rather than nitrogen's. Keep in mind that some "browns", manure, feather meal, blood meal, are high Nitrogen sources, while most all greens are also. kimmq is kimmsr

Funny how threads remind us of differences. I just assumed by marble you were talking about countertops. Marble floor? What? In 2018? Not in my area. We had marble in our last master bath (countertop) and we won't even do that again. But resale? Resale is so variable and in my world, marble floors = discount price for removing. Marble was done in the 90's. Now - at the very high end I can see it ... nah, I can't ... not anymore. The comment above about younger folks appreciating authenticity. Yeah - but not marble floors. Real wood perhaps but they also favor practicality. The thought of mixing real wood and real marble seems really unusual for me. That would be a climate thing. But perhaps you should mention where you are and at what price point if you are asking about resale. Here in NC - we use wood for floors. Laminate at the low end, real wood at the mid and high end. And nothing else for some of us - we are doing wood everywhere except a bonus room (and that is kind of a budget decision). Tile labor has gotten expensive locally so the best wood is still cheaper. So doing wood even in my kid's bathroom. Now wood can be solid or engineered and they are both real woods. Then it can be vinyl, laminate or tile for wood look. Wood look tile is very popular right now. Lots of people call it a trend but I personally like it and it is very practical when wood is unacceptable for scratching.

I don’t have fake grass but the doggie daycare I take my dog to does. The dogs seem very comfortable on it at all times of the year, we’re in Michigan where it gets both fairly hot and extremely cold. They also seem to adapt to it pretty easily. As for maintenance, with so many dogs it is hosed down often and I would assume it would still need to be hosed daily even with one or two dogs. Not just because of the oder but because of bacteria.
