Get rid of the angle. Locate the mirrors where you need them. Locate the lights where they will provide the light that is needed. If it helps, use a portable mirror that sets on the countertop.

Houssaon has great examples of what it should look like. Typically you center the mirrors with the sink/faucet and then leave even gaps between mirror and sconces on each side.

What are you using the drawer on angle for ?

Going further than Mark, I'd get rid of the angle and have only one sink area, and turning the other sink area into the makeup area.

Get rid of the angle. Put both sinks on the right side wall.

Do something like this on that left corner. I copied this idea using a glass console, decorative stool and decorative mirror above. I don't use it for makeup, I just liked the way it filled an empty wall and gave me a stool to sit at if needed.

It’s best to do the entire wall with mirror. It will also make the space appear more amble. Sconces should be placed at either end.

And I’ll bet that all of those vanities shown are the old knee height ones instead of the adult height ones being done these days. Typical terrible tract builder design that needs to be jettisoned and redesigned.

That is a dated look for sure and it very well might be the old height vanities too. If you must have a makeup area in the bathroom at least make it the same height as the vanities which should be 36” and use a counter stool for seating to apply makeup . I agee the 2 sinks should go on the right wall and the a makeup place on the left maybe. I would like to see a floor plan of the whole space.The worst place to store makeup is a bathroom FYI and when 2 people share the bathroom it is inconveinent for someone to have to wait for your makeup routine. As for the mirror question I like a mirror for each sink and I do not like sconces I like an over the mirror light with good light bulbs that light the whole bathroom and create no shadows so pot lights and over the mirror lights .

It's a poor use of space overall, has nothing to do with "dated." Poor design is never in style and unlike wine and cheese, gets worse with age.

Assuming that this is already installed or ordered, I would suggest 2 really nice framed mirrors with sconces on the sides. Since you have a nice window there, just get yourself a nice standing mirror for applying makeup. Supplement the light with recessed lighting... I found one picture on line that is almost like yours....

I do not like the lower makeup area though....

If this is your only option at this time, then embrace it and make it the best you can!

I agree with the great comments above about making better use of the space by eliminating the angle.

In addition, please pay more attention to the cabinets you use. As shown, you have some very narrow drawers, and some very narrow cabinets. What do you plan to store in each of those small spaces? Bathrooms can handle small drawers better than a kitchen (since most of the things we keep there are smaller), but your agglomeration of little cabinets isn't very practical.

You would be much better off consolidating adjacent cabinets into wider drawers, or wider shelved cabinets. Even better is if you place the sink so you can place drawers all the way up to the counter (except where the sink is, of course). See Houssaon's photos: in the second one, there are 3 usable drawers on each side of the sink; in the last one, the top "row" is completely wasted. I vote for more drawers every time!

I don't know what people are talking about. Your layout is great for seeing yourself in daylight at the vanity seat, which is NOT a lower counter, according to your original drawing you posted above!

I agree with the person who said that you need a freestanding counter-top mirror for your vanity area. A large one would be very functional there, and it needs to be light enough that you can move it to get good angles for light on both sides of your face. You may want to get a pair of narrow pendants to hang, one on either side of the vanity area to light up both sides of your face.

Consider making the base cabinet on your left a pull-out to hold your grooming tools such as hair dryers and whatever curling, crimping, or straightening appliances you use. Make certain there is a grounded outlet at the station so that you may do your hair care while sitting if you ever need/desire to do so. I can't find a picture of the pull-out I am talking about. It goes behind the door, under the drawer. The door becomes a pull-out, like in the kitchen. It combines this idea...

Where this utensil drawer is the lower cabinet door pull-out (below the drawer), and the metal bins hold the brushes, combs, hot appliances and whatever you want to have in reach.

I don't know if you spend any time doing your hair, but if you do, why tire your legs and feet on hard tile early each day? Sit, have your tools at hand, and a place to set your hot beverage of choice!

I forgot to mention my ideas for the vanities. I think that you need either large mirrors or medicine cabinets there. I don't know why people have also decided that med cabs are out of fashion, but I find mine to be very useful. They hold things we use for everyday grooming and small things that would be lost in a drawer or regular cabinet. Ours have electrical outlets, so they hide the electric toothbrush, too. The lights inside make for good light for eyebrow grooming.

And look at all the little things that I can hold in mine, things that would be lost in a drawer or other cabinet. Here, my toothbrush is protected and left alone as it dries, as well.

These are 21" wide by 34" tall. I am hardly using the top shelf, just stashing toothbrushes up there.

Things don't get lost in drawers if you use dividers.

AnnKH, I don't know about others, but I tend to use the divided spaces in drawers to pile in more stuff and things get lost. Maybe I have too few drawers available (for instance, I just got my first ever bathroom drawer), or too many things. In the med cab, with the mirror behind to show what is there, and the bright light so that nothing can hide, I don't think I will be stashing things that get lost and forgotten.
