You need a Kitchen Designer, ASAP. You have several errors in your thinking. Starting with the island size. You also need a much larger budget than you imagine to do all of that with structural changes too.

You could use a gray glass subway tile in the same gray as the island cabinets so choose the tile first then the paint for the cabinets. IMO you can have a different faucet for a prep sink. I always like 3 smaller pendants for islands , please make sure they have good LED daylight bulbs as should the rest of the lighting in the kitchen Those bulbs are 3500-5000K and keep all the colors you choose looking as they should.

And what size is that slab of stone? 125”? If not, you will need 2, bookmatched, for the seam.

Since the average length of a stone slab is 108”, and you need something 18” longer, which is HUGE, it is doubtful that you have found “multiple” choices for that. Remember that even if the slab is long not enough, the logistics of getting it into the home with humans doing the lifting may dictate a seam.

Put the MW next to the fridge. And relocate the prep sink to serve the actual working side of the smaller redesigned island.

I love the granite. Backpainted glass would be a simple solution for the backsplash and wouldn't compete with the stone

I would double check and test that stone. I would bet it is a marble.

The island in progress here used a 117” slab, and there were only a very small handful of stones at the wholesaler large enough to do that. We picked the stone first, before finalizing the size of the island.

I would suggest an EZ reach corner cabinet, not a diagonal one. And yes to moving the MW next to the fridge. That’s the appliance association that is more often used. A plain MW shelf rather than a built in is more versatile. For the splash, Rittenhouse Square in Desert Gray would be non competitive.

The Cook's Kitchen - I have Wave granite. Also called Piracema. It is not marble. Mine does not have as large gray chunks as pictured above, but Wave granite has a lot of variation. It is very low-maintenance, does not stain or etch, a winner of a granite IMO.

That’s why I suggested testing it. :) Although it gives visual indications of possibly being a marble, only testing it with the lemon to see if it etches will be definitive.

The stone world is full of cats being sold as dogs, and hamsters being named Fido by the seller, and that are neither dogs nor cats. You have to do your due diligence! Even the sellers do not always know.

Suggest 3 pendants or 1 single fixture.

I'd match the finish and coordinate the style of the faucets, but I don't think they need to be the same.

I am saying this with the hopes that you are still able to modify the cabinets some (if not sorry). I don't think your prep sink is a very good location, I'd move it more towards the middle of the island. Ideally want something like 42"-48" of counter between the sink and stove, with a 10' island I'd just put it right in the middle. I have a fairly similar setup and it works well (fridge across aisle from island with a sink in middle that is perpendicular to range). Also the sink looks small, for a prep sink to be functional you want it to be a decent size or it ends up being useless. I'd suggest something like 18" (or more). I personally don't like the round sink compared to rectangle, I think it looks a little odd in a kitchen and gives you less usable space. You don't have aisle dimensions, hopefully they are sufficient.

Agree with not taking stone sellers word for the name of the stone or what type of stone it is.

I agree with moving the prep sink although I am not a fan of putting it right in the middle of the island since this reduces the long stretch of prep space possible with a 10' island. We have the Kohler 33" stages sink in our island and it is a fantastic size. Most of the time we leave the cutting board in place and the sink size is fine. The small round one you have in your plans would be less than ideal imo. Oh and for our size island (10 x 5 )we have a seam in the soapstone which is no big deal.

I'd move the fridge left, end without a wall and use the cabinet housing for fridge as kitchen "wall ending", then the built in micro wave. Relocate the prep sink at fridge end. of island.

Thank you for the ideas on moving the prep sink. Although the actual sink is not chosen yet, I do not intend it to be this small or a round sink. It is drawn that way for location purposes only.

Carolyn K. Thank you for the recommendation to use a lighting designer. I will be heading to the store today! I am meeting with the electrician this week to determine where lighting will go for the whole renovation so it’s all a little overwhelming.

Sophie, for some reason your original comment is just showing up for me. Thank you for your concern however as this kitchen remodel is part of a much larger addition/remodel, the structural changes and cost are already accounted for. Could you please elaborate on your concern for another kitchen designer (we have already worked with one). I am including a photo of the 1st floor plan as this may help with understanding the kitchen layout.

If you put the microwave next to the fridge make SURE you have a filler between them to allow the fridge doors to open fully without hitting the microwave. You WILL open the fridge door when the microwave door Is open, even if you think you won’t. This Is the biggest design mistake we made in our kitchen. I was able to pull the fridge out an inch or so to open the doors fully without bumping the microwave hande (wish I had gotten the microwave drawer with no handle, and a bigger cabinet so it could have been flush mounted!) but I am in constant fear of someone opening the fridge when the microwave is open and dinging the fridge door. I habe done it twice already but luckily no damage so far. I put a bumper on the microwave door but still fear this happening. A 3” filler would have solved the issue, but none of us recognized it until too late.

Personally I would agree to move the fridge to the left so it isn’t in the middle of the cabinet run. I would also move the prep sink down, I would want to prep to the side of the prep sink closest to the stove.

One other thing, if you do the invisible supports under your granite you wont need that middle leg on the island.
