Goodman Air condition
Comments (21)Well itÂs time for another: The new Goodman, managed by a whole lot smarter people, so as typical the new head of manufacturing, Bill, had to show immediate results in the form of increased profits, so as it goÂs the first and easiest place to have a short term success is to reduce labor costs. Now remember, Bill is of this new breed of self proclaimed manufacturing geniuses that could live 10 life times and still never achieve the level of success as Harold Goodman. So to get back on track, the first coarse of action was to change the way they hire people, so as you guessed they went to temporary labor from a temporary labor source. Every time I went over there on a service call, I saw fewer people that I knew and a whole lot of new faces. The people that I had seen over the years were all suddenly disappearing. As this was taking place, I was receiving phone calls at all hours to assess and repair pre mature stamping die failures. They would bring a temporary worker in and put him or her to run a progressive die, with practically no experience. As you can imagine the beating that the dies took was becoming evident as seen on the finished parts coming off of them. Then to make matters worse, they decided to operate their coil fin dies with a water soluble lubricant rather than the recommended lubricant that is recommended by the fin die manufacturer. Well it seemed as if quality and production were suffering, so rather looking for the manufacturing experts that can put the wheels back on the track, they chose to hire these alleged new, cheep wizards of manufacturing from India as well as the United States. So, I found myself teaching these people all that they needed to know to perform their jobs. Apparently, these highly accredited Indian,Bangladesh and U.S. universityÂs left out of their manufacturing engineering curriculum anything that had to do with manufacturing equiptment. So you ask, what credentials do they need to earn these positions? Well guyÂs I am sorry to say that all of you out there as well as my self that are shop and hands on trained people mechanical experts in or relative fields are no match to these types of people that tout there college degreeÂs as their merit badge of superiority over us. And the use of these new wave manufacturing terms like lean manufacturing, kaisan , six sigma, black belt mba, iso 9000 and so on. These goofy inadequate engineers end up taking these kinds of correspondent courses and then for some reason believe that they carry the same credentials as a Harold Goodman. So letÂs start to add all this up so far, we have Bill from the looser company, we have inexperienced temporary seasonal labor and we have some inadequate manufacturing engineering people. I have more to come so stay tuned because as Bill paves this type road to the companies alleged success the competition starts to pave the same type of road....See Moreportable heat and air conditioners
Comments (18)You said "they went Bankrupt" Big difference between Chapter 7 & 11. Do you understand that court approved Chapter 11 allows vendor protection, while finances are reorganized with full intention of payment to be made? Perhaps you are confusing Chapter 11 with Chapter 7 or 13? "Vendors will be paid for all goods furnished and services rendered subsequent to the filing" Not sure how you can interpret subsequent to allow voiding of all warranties. Fedders official release regarding warranties: "The company also announced that it received Court approval during its first day hearings to, among other things, pay pre-petition and ongoing employee wages, salaries, workers' compensation, health benefits and other employee obligations during its restructuring under Chapter 11. In addition, the company received authorization to continue with ordinary course customer programs, including warranty. The company also is authorized to pay ordinary course post-petition expenses without seeking court authority" Fedders Receives Final Court Approval of Chapter 11 Financing Agreement LIBERTY CORNER, New Jersey -- October 8, 2007 -- Fedders Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of air treatment products, announced today it received final Court approval of debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing from Goldman Sachs Credit Partners L.P., subject to certain conditions and limitations. Under the terms of the financing agreement, Goldman Sachs Credit Partners will provide a $33 million senior secured revolving facility. This facility is in addition to the existing $46.4 million term loan from Goldman Sachs, which will remain in place. "We are pleased to report the Court granted final approval of the financing agreement," Michael Giordano, Fedders' President and Chief Executive Officer, said. "The financing will provide the Company with sufficient liquidity as we move forward in the reorganization process." Fedders is a big international company that is suffering with its US operations only. US is operated as separate profit center, no different than most international companies today to protect overseas assets. If anyone has any proof they are not honoring prior warranties, please share....See MoreWhich Portable Generator??
Comments (43)What about my geographical area- central Florida. 2004?? had three hurricanes in just a few weeks. Many , many people were out of city/county power for six plus weeks. Gas types not feasible because trees blocked roads for weeks, no gas was able to be delivered. I have three friends close friends with generators. Two of them have Generac- one has 9,000 the other 7,000 I think. Both ran for weeks. One of them starts each month and runs for 10 minutes with self check system. This one is natural gas. Other is propane. Next door neighbor has gas 4,000??. Used sparingly during storm- and I do mean sparingly- bath water/toilet was taken from rain spouts (never ending rain). Used for frig only. Grill for cooking. That generator would not start again when checked/cleaned for storage after hurricanes. I want a propane for upcoming build. Acreage/rural, so no natural gas. What brands do those of you who do not like Generac suggest?? Thx...See MoreNeighbor's air conditioner makes a loud humming sound
Comments (31)This just happened to me. The sound is blaringly loud and low, and it woke me up around 6am and lasted for about 10 minutes. It sounds like it's coming from the apartment above, and it's loudest in the bathroom (no windows, it's in the center of my apartment). When it shuts off it sounds like a switch is flipped and it powers down quickly. It basically permeates my entire little apartment, but the sound is also really loud by the front door so it's hard to even say where it is coming from. I thought it might be a blender or something but it's not as loud in the kitchen. It drives me insane, only happens early morning so I assume my upstairs neighbor is using something that causes it. I thought maybe a shaver?!?! But nobody's shaver is THAT loud. Everyone talks about "the hum" and electronics, but this sound is so LOUD and coming from within the building. It's not coming from the windows....See MoreJoel L
