Comments (22)As far as how much the stoves can go down in the "off-season" depends on many factors. If there is a discontinued model, it will go cheaper. On others, it just depends on how motivated the dealer is or maybe there is a stove in a particular color that they want to clear out. Mostly, the off-season is best for scheduling the installation and ordering any parts. That's probably where you will save the most money. Maybe they can even throw in installation for free if they don't discount the stove. There is more bargaining room on everything when they have more time. As far as the motor and boards on the Harman, I only ever replaced one board, but I am convinced the owner of the stove messed it up (there were other issues with this guy). I never replaced a motor or even a blower, even on my own stove. There is fan noise with all pellet stoves and I would always recommend to people that it not be put in the TV room. It seems to bother some people more than others. If you are sensitive to sounds it will bother you. It is kind of like a range hood fan on low all the time....See MoreWhich holds a good paint on a hot door best, wood, fiberglas or steel?
Comments (20)Livewire, there’s a distinct difference between snarky and pointed. My note was intended to end the business relationship and was appropriate given the informal nature of our correspondence. My response to Jeff was to exhibit agreement with the price of the door while objecting to the price of the transom. Secondly, you’ve assumed the installer is represented in my post which he is not. Much like the business of buying a door, the business of installing the door had me circumvent the retailer and their installers. In that process alone I saved approximately $400-$600 not including some additional rot repairs that don’t exit. So although this leg work can certainly be over whelming, if it saves me money and Im happy with the result, I don’t mind if I’m taken as what the English would call “snarky”. However, there’s an English virtue “mind the pence and the pounds will take care of themselves”, I’m hoping this one suites me precisely. Jeff didn’t get his feelings hurt, Jeff quoted me $250 in an email then sent a quote for $938. Jeff tried to increase his margin. Jeff can do that. Chris can go in another direction. Chris did that. If you don’t know, that’s snarky...See MoreWhich knob or lever for this specific interior door style?
Comments (1)I have a mixture of both lever and round in my home....round on the interior doors and lever on the entry. I have the oil rubbed bronze bath fixtures, and went with that color for the interior doors. However, at the suggestion of my decorator, I went with the black on the entry door as it is a dark wood door and we wanted some contrast. I'm glad I did. Hope this helps......See MoreBest Behr Interior Paint Color for Living Room w/ Honey Wood Floors
Comments (15)Beverly, wow thank you for those beautiful renderings. So helpful and definitely food for thought! :) I have decided I will probably be refinishing the floors in a few years to a mid tone (less orangey) brown, because that is what I'm bumping on. The texture in the ceiling is from the weight of these massive beams in the attic. The window is probably a newer addition as the home has changed a few hands since it was built in 1921. I actually don't mind the stone on the fireplace. Maybe I'm crazy but I like it! Thank you again for all your thoughts! Holly, our furniture all rather neutral (think medium to dark woods, mid tone grays). Most added colors or accents are in the blue and gold and silver families). I will have oil rubbed bronze leaning towards black knobs and pulls throughout the house. Liz, I will definitely get a sample of soft focus. I also love your trim/woodwork...bit of sugar is so pretty. Thank you!...See MoreAnglophilia
