My very favorite bear of all time.

My view from my favorite room. All that yellow is the result of 3 Rudbeckias planted 6 years ago in the center bed. It has completely taken over that 8 ft diameter bed and another 6 ft one. Plus it is showing up in 3 other areas in the yard.

lgmd, I'll send my deer your way to get/keep it in check. They keep eating all the nice young stems and leaves. I'm never going to see my Rudbeckia triloba or R. fulgida. Or the pentas or... stupid deer. They're so beautiful! but a pain.

Rob, we have enough deer, thank you! They keep a lot of other things in my yard in check, but I have never seen any evidence of them working on the Rudbeckia. They do a lot of munching on the Daylilies, Hosta, and Phlox plus empty the ground birdfeeder nearly every night.

Best way to stop deer is to stake out bars of ivory soap. We do it and they leave our stuff alone. They don't like the smell. But you have to refresh once or twice a year as eventually the soap will lose its fragrance and then they'll attack. We've also had crow eat the soap!?!

This is the 4th waterlily seedling to bloom out of a tank in the barn lot. It is pink but has lavender highlights. I couldn't get close enough to it for a really good pic.

All the information I read on chicory said it'd grow to be 1-5 feet. He's 5'7"+ and it continued to grow. It's at least 7 feet tall. To be yanked and roots ground into coffee. Paint covered clothes.

Raven, the name of that waterlily at Nelson's is Wanvisa. I used to have it. I need to buy it again. It won the award for best new waterlily some years ago, which is very unusual for a hardy lily. I will see if I can find the picture of mine.

Here it is. Wanvisa. Shows the very unusual coloration. Easy to see why it was a winner.
