Help! I need advice on choosing the best exterior paint color for my 1950’s ranch style home. I do like the grey with black shutters and white trim. But will welcome other ideas. I am uncertain of the types of paint as well. We will be using Sherwin Williams brand but just need specific suggestions. Thanks so much!!

That bow window is a significant challenge because the masonry follows the curve. I would remove the whole wall and replace with a huge window that follows the line of the roof. I also removed shutters and opened that front gable, replaced doors and garage doors with wood, replaced exterior sconces, enlarged the stoop and poured a walkway to the drive, painted the side door casing and downspouts to match the siding so they disappear. Sorry I didn't have time to find a better place for the garbage cans.

I really like your contemporary house and the original color, and I agree about updating to a modern, mostly glass door. We are amazed how much a modern door changed the look of our 80s house, both from the curb and from inside!

I don't think a dark color is appropriate for this house. It reminds me of those Hollywood bungalows from the 30s, and those were always white with red clay roofs. I'd stick with warm whites, creams, light tans...
