Unfortunately, he will only fix the paint job if I let him continue with the rest of the kitchen tasks (electrical work/rangehood installation/ceiling border). If he couldn't paint properly how can I expect him to be competent at other tasks. When he had finished the two coats he had advised this is final. However, when I showed him the paint job. He defended himself saying The kitchen is not done finished yet and he would have corrected all these small issues at the end. The 50% deposit would have covered the paint job he did. So he doesn't lose out on much. It's us that lose out as we will be left with a sloppy paint job.

The window by the fridge is too big right now but we will be making it smaller so it doesn't interfere with the fridge. Porcelain is a manufactured countertop which is very strong and low maintenance. It is also thin, unlike granite/quartz which is a look I like. The one I like looks a bit like marble but I understand you can get many different looks. It is more expensive than granite. herbflavor - I've looked for inspiration photos but really haven't found anything for a small kitchen that doesn't have an island - other than stillpitpat's photos above. That works. I should say that I have white appliances.

I was on what felt like my death bed last week (ok a bit hyperbolic!) so caught up just now and the floor looks great! I like it a lot and think you made the right call. I like the idea of a painted island, creamy white would be nice but don't rule out color. As for the appliances not matching if you do a white island, that problem goes away with color for the island. You may need/want to replace your appliances sooner than later but I would not let the island bully me into that even if you go with a white. It might not be ideal but you can change the appliances at a later point.

White floor, with your countertops and white cabinets. I would add in black accents with your hardware and lighting. Dark finishes do tend to show everything. White is classic!
