I would choose a second oven over a warming drawer. Better yet, a combo-steam oven if that is in the budget. I would skip the microwave to save money and space. The only thing the CSO can't do that a mw can is popcorn and the CSO is slower, but way better.

PS I have a Miele XXL CSO in my island, plumbed. It works absolutely fine being under a counter as opposed to on a wall.

I just got rid of a warming drawer when we remodeled the kitchen. It came with the house and we hardly ever used it. What I did add in my remodel was a Miele XXL CSO, and just like Rita, I have it under the counter in the island. I put it next to my prep sink to take advantage of the water supply and drain. I would get one of these as a second oven. There is a bit of a steep learning curve but well worth it.

I told my DH last week that if we ever move, we will be adding one of them to whatever house we buy.

I have a warming drawer and have never used it. I'd skip a secondary oven and a microwave and consider a speed oven.

What does your kitchen designer say? Where are your kitchen plans? Where is the reno layout ?

This kitchen plan of yours sounds very strange. I would not put an oven in an island, and I would not put two ovens side by side in an island. You need to rethink your plan. And no, I wouldn't get a warming drawer. In theory, an oven is a warming drawer, but it can also do a lot more that a warming drawer can't.

I would love to see the floor plan as I bet you have a walkin pantry which IMO are always a waste of space . Pullout pantries hold more are more convienent to use and are often paired with wall ovens . The whole point of wall ovens is to have them at a height easier to use so if you must put them under the counter why not get a range with a warming drawer and a regular oven

Thank you for the comments. the kitchen is L shaped with an island. The window and sliding glass door on the left (not in the picture) are existing. There is a large pantry with pull out shelves in the corner (I think the pic looks distorted because the scale seems off), the refrigerator, a small cabinet, sink under the window, small microwave. Short side of the L has the cooktop and some cabinetry. Hopefully you can see why the 2 ovens would need to be in the island. Of course, we could do a range with oven where the cooktop is located.

I would do induction range instead of cooktop. If the ovens are in the island and the island is used for prep (or homework), nobody would want to be there if the ovens are hot. Who wants to stand in front of a hot oven? If you have a range and the oven is hot, you are not usually standing in front of it for too long.. Plus there is an exhaust over it.

Put in an induction range as mentioned instead of the ovens. I can tell you ovens under a counter are a pain. They are lower down than a regular stove oven. Not fun. Additionally, your dishwasher should be to the left of your sink so your dishwasher is not in your prep area.

Het a real KD. Not a cabinet seller. The whole reason you decide to use a wall oven is so it can be placed at an ergonomic height up high off the floor.

Minimally, I think a range in the cooktop location makes sense. Then put the second regular oven or CSO under the counter on the island. Between having a second oven and having a warming drawer, the second oven wins.

I suppose could get a double oven wall unit and put it in the bar area. Honestly, I don't use the oven every day, and when my teens are all gone in just a few years, I will use it even less.

I recognize this layout is a bit unconventional, but we are trying to move as few walls as possible. This isn't our forever house, and we are doing what we can to make the space more useful for us over the next 5-10 years. The next owner of this house will surely tear it down!

Can you post a 2d drawing of your plan? A sketch of the existing layout would be helpful. There might be a better idea that keeps the walls you wnt to keep.

I would not put a double oven in the bar area. It's too far away - you'd have to take several steps to put your hot food onto the island.

I know several people that remodeled their kitchens within the last oh, 10 years or so, that put in warming drawers that rarely got used. I personally would not want an oven in the island as I would not want to be standing in front of a hot oven doing other things (sometimes I just stand at my island going through mail). I think a range where the cooktop is would be your best bet and move your dishwasher to the left of your sink.

Please post a 2d drawing. There's room for improvement in your layout and I'd like to offer some suggestions and drawings.

My new kitchen has a wall oven, my first. I would never go back to a "low" oven. Consider this, with age that 30 pound turkey does not get any easier to lift. Please get a CKD involved - it's SO worth the fee charged. Tall, pull-out cabinets will assist in getting you all the accessible storage you need.

A kitchen has 3 main zones. Prep, cooking, and clean-up. In a perfect world, these zones don't cross too much so that multiple users can accomplish tasks without running into each other. We don't always get our wish, of course, but you have the room to set it up well. Dish storage can be in the drawers/uppers on the left or island.

Your primary prep area is the counter between the sink and range/cooktop. Having a dishwasher in the prep zone means anyone helping you clean as you go or needing to grab something from a clean load means the prep-er will have to move out of the way.

Why did you want it on the right? To access dish storage? Because you're right-handed? Assess why the current locations doesn't work for you.
