Help asap Bill & others - don't like new shower floor
Comments (6)Thanks for responding so quickly, but perhaps it's too late since it was installed on Saturday morning. Then we had power failure for three days so I just didn't deal with any home stuff. Maybe I will just love with it and be happy that the tile that would have gone on the wall and been more prominent didn't get installed yet. Do you think Akdo makes it's samples that way on purpose because I went to another tile store today and they had the same slate Desert Tan strips that I almost used and the sample was beautiful. The salesperson said she never would have expected how much pink and orange the full sheets would have....See MoreFloor job new wood planks don't match old, looks bad what
Comments (1)The weave in looks OK, but there is no excuse for that result, other than not being able to source matching material due to cost or time constraints. I wouldn't want to live with that also, and I would never expect one of my customers to think that's OK. But it is, as you say, a conversation piece. Even if you source very similar material in terms of species, sawing, age and location, a flooring expert/artisan is still going to have to tweak the new material with stains and dyes to make such a repair less noticeable....See MoreHelp, I don't like my new granite
Comments (27)I agree with others that a different paint color would help. If you're going to put in a backsplash, get rid of the 4" tall one of granite that's there and put in one that goes from th counter clear up to the cabinets. Then the granite color/pattern won't be so much "in your face". We re-did a kitchen in a rental condo and and the guy who put in the granite installed a 4" backsplash. We hated it on first sight, and I think it was because the granite pattern became overwhelming for the space. We ripped it out immediately and installed a tile 6" high backsplash with a mosaic border on top. We didn't want to do tile all the way up to the cabinets. I apologize for my less than stellar mock up skills, but it may give you an idea....See MoreHelp,,,my things just don't look right in my new house
Comments (17)Wow guys... Thanks for all of the great suggestions and fun links! In our last home, the walls were sage green. It looked beautiful with our things. I was leaning toward more of a goldy tan here just for a change and for more versatility. My fear is that if I keep my current color theme that it will be out of style soon. I am seeing so many people painting over their golds and moving toward the greys and blue/greens. I love this look and see it in many of my inspiration pics. If I totally changed gears, I would likely need to get a new rug. So many decisions! I do love the look/ feel of soofrivers home. I love the wainscoting and her light walls, which is odd considering I am a color person. I had a blast going through the cottage of the month site- those are some amazing places! I was considering adding some wainscoting, but wasn't sure where. I am going to need major help with window treatments, as I really struggle with them. I do know that DH will not want any of the window covered. As for things I like...I love anything out of the Pottery Barn catalog and also like a mix with some antiques. Thank you!!!...See Moreemehouse1
