Help with Granite Color
Comments (3)I am facing this same decision too in a few weeks. My cabinets are a medium cherry with stainless steel. I agree with you that Santa Ceceila is not my favorite. Honestly, I am not too fond of any of the lower cost granites since I'd rather have something with dramatic veining but just like you, I don't have the budget for $70 a square foot granite. If you like dark, verde butterfly or peacock might do it for you since it's dark green, also black tan might bring out the reddish tone in your cherry cabinets. I don't have many suggestions for a light option though other than Santa Ceceila, New Venetian Gold or the Giallo group. My husband is convinced that we need to use Crema Marfil subway tiles as the backsplash. Have you thought about what you will use for your backsplash? Good luck with your choice....See MoreKitchen Remodel - Need Help With Granite Counter Color
Comments (9)We have a patterned floor - I guess it'd be considered patterned, anyway. It's a brown toned tile, a bit similar to the floor in the first picture in this thread. Our cabinets are kind of interesting - rustic hickory, which has a fair amount of contrast with the dark toned knots, the lighter straight grained wood, and all. The tropical brown helps to tie it together...I think I would have been afraid of something solid colored - every crumb would be visible! I'm a good housekeeper, but I'm going to obsess enough as it is, keeping that granite perfectly clean! Maybe I have no sense of design. I don't know. At least nothing in our new kitchen clashes horribly, does it??? :-P...See Morekitchen remodel - need help - crown molding
Comments (16)There is a reason that that cabinet seller is no longer with the company. She messed up quite a bit. And I mean a LOT. That design is not acceptable. And you are a ways from needing to be concerned about crown. You need to invite the company owner to come to the job site and fix more than just the crown molding. Simply ask him, "Is this a kitchen that you could easily cook in?". If he says yes, he is lying. If he is honest and says no, ask him what he is going to do to make it right....See MoreI hate my new kitchen remodel and need help fixing it.
Comments (48)I think you have a lot going on here -- the varied tones in the cabinetry are strong, and the cabinets have to stay, so everything else must revolve around that: - Replacing the appliances /having them match will go a long way. Whether you go stainless steel or whatever, matching will make a difference. I put my hand over the black refrigerator, and the picture looked way better. - The window looks unfinished without a curtain, and it is an opportunity to bring in some color. Once you do this, repeat that color in floor mats and other linens. I think this will make a big difference. - The up-top portion of the cabinets looks empty. I'd like to see some baskets or some platters and bowls displayed. This'll come together. You're just not there yet....See MoreJillius
